Best cage match... eh REALLY tough question for me... no doubt though it would be something from the NWA in the 80's... Flair had several great matches in the cage... but right now my favorite cage match would probably be Owen Hart v.s Bret Hart at Summerslam 1994. Now if you throw Hell in a Cell into it thats a different story. The Undertaker v.s Shawn Micheals is one of my favorite matches of all time. That match is what hardcore should be about , not trash cans, staples, light tubes, and pointless spots that have no meaning. However, then you have Mankind v.s The Undertaker... which kind of goes against what I just said. But the thing is that match was something WWE had NEVER done before. They had never gone that extreme. And it was done tastefully I guess you could say. Plus there was great drama within the match where as in CZW its just BUMP!!! (sell for a minute) LIGHT BULB TO THE BACK!!! (pose for the crowd and set up table with either more light bulbs, barbed wire, or tacs, or all three!!!) BUMP THROUGH TABLE!!!
I hate that shit. |

Steve Austin vs HHH two out of three falls (ended in cage) deserves some notoriety.
Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA for the U.S. title '85 is a classic. Taker vs Lesnar HitC was a classic imo. and Flair vs Dusty Rhodes '81? All stellar matches. |

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit was probably the greatest steel cage match ever. Angle did a moonsault off the top of the cage. Repeat. Angle did a moonsault off the top of the cage. He got german suplexed off the turnbuckle, and to this day says in interviews that he would never do most of the spots he did in that match again. The match happened at a time where both men were heels, with Benoit starting to making a face turn, but the crowd was jumping out of their seats.
Me and Lara Emily got into it a long time ago in a steel cage match thread when I said the Harts steel cage match couldnt hold a candle to Angle/ Benoit........come to think of it, they cant touch Eddie/Rey either.........or Orton/Flair........for that matter, any steel cage match that has ever happened has been better than anything Bret and Owen could scrape together. |

My choice would be the Steiner Brothers vs Money Inc in a Tag Team Cage Match on Monday Night Raw in early 1993. Both members had to exit the ring. Rick Steiner exited first, leaving Scott in who was double teamed. IRS then got out. Both Scott Steiner and Dibiase tried climbing over at the same time and as Dibiase tried to get out, Rick Steiner caught him and put him on his shoulders. This allowed Scotty to touch both feet on the floor and win the match.

![]() but yeah, Benoit/Angle was the goods. I remember Angle's leap off the top of the cage with the moonsault. Benoit, also did the flying headbutt from the top and actually connected on it. Oh man, that was the shit ![]() |

that's like me saying every other MLB player(s), past and present, couldn't hold a candle to any Yankee player.
I agree Angle/Benoit was a great match and hey, maybe it is better then Bret/Owen. But saying every single cage match has been better then Bret/Owen is ridiculous |

Val Venis vs. Rikishi probably had the most shocking moment of any standard cage match.

Bret Vs. Owen was my favourite.
On the subject of mentioned Brock vs. Taker. It was really awesome. It was the first time that the cell was actually used for what it was made for. Both men, although using the cage as a weapon, stayed inside. They didn't need some huge bump off the cage to make it great. |

We'll have to see how the Eddie/Rey match goes tonight....maybe that could be a contender.
But I doubt it. |

My favorite was Kane versus Edge....
![]() Seriously though, one that stands out is the 6 man hell in a cell at Armagedon, HHH vs mankind, Undertaker vs Mankind wasn't really a good match, but it was very interesting to watch. And of couse, Angle vs Benoit. |
