Q about the Bret DVD

In the DVD where they're talking about the Piper vs. Bret match at WMVIII, Piper says that that was the first time his shoulders had been pinned to the mat in like 12 years.

What's the deal with that? That can't be true, is it?

I can't wait to watch this. It's sitting right here next to me. But it's probably true. I can't remember a time before that where Piper was pinned. He always seemed to lose by DQ or countout or something.

On TV, I don't recall him losing while being in the WWF so 12 years might be right.

I dont recall him losing, although a friend told me he remembers Piper getting pinned by Mr. Perfect. In the DVD however they said it was the only time they ever wrestled, but they did wrestle in WCW in 99.

I've been browsing and I can't find a record of Piper being pinned in the 12 year period between 1980-1992. For the first four years of that period he was in NWA Mid Atlantic, and I am only able to find records of large events. During his heel run in WWE Piper never was pinned cleanly, even by Hogan. He would turn face in 1986 and I am not as sure about what happened during this time. His match at WM VI ended in a Double DQ and soon afterwards he was injured. So I am going to say that there is a very good chance that this is true.
