Question Any monitor "experts" in the house?

So, I just got my computer hooked up to the internet after a few days of nice relaxation away from the computer world.

Last night, I hooked my computer back up to prepare for this only to find that my monitor is ****ed up. After doing diagnostic testing, I've come to find that no red shows up for me. Sadly, that's about as far as the "help" for my computer goes.

I then tried my sister/boyfriend's monitor for their old computer they don't use. It seemed to work, so I set it up on my desk, only to discover that it too has a problem, only slightly different. Red displays, but blue doesn't.

Does anyone have any insight?

I've checked every cable like 8907696986798698.2 times. Thanks for the effort though.

is the card in the PCI slot properly?

how old is the monitor?

Any magnets next to it? e.g. large speakers or anything?

I know nothing about the various cards, as I think all mine are located inside the computer.

As for the monitor's age, it's a little under two years old.

The computer's own speakers are next to it, but that's about it from your list.

hmm so ur have onboard graphics...

maybe the cable has just gotten old and dodgy... but u say someone elses monitor started to do it aswell?

Motherboard problem im guessing then, ur best bet, as im not physically there to asses what PC u have/motherbaord type, take it to a local PC place and get a replacement motherboard, it doesnt sound that it would be that expensive *read another thread* as u have done that contract work so u could spare $30-$50.

I think I may have found the problem. I just looked at the cable for my monitor, and it appears that one of the male ports in the cable is totally bent out of shape. I then checked the cable for the other monitor, and that one is completely missing two slots. One slot though. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

That's usually the problem if a certain color isn't showing up.
