Its the Cubs year. Got Peirre to lead off. Prior is as good as he has been for 4 years. Kerry Wood is the wild card. Hopefully he's healthy, but you cant really tell with him. I'm not sure if we have enough bats in the lineup, but Derrek Lee is obviously a MVP canidate and Ramirez might be also.

Zambrano is gunna blow up this year . This guy has the stuff to be the nastiest pitcher in the league. Its just up to him to reach that potential. I look for Zambrano to win 21 games and be a CY Young canidate. He's due now. This is his year. The kid is nasty.

Go Cubs.

Wow, nice work man. How long did it take you to do that? That being said, I do disagree with you about the Rockies. I think this is the year they get back to .500. They proved down the stretch they could win on the road and that's all that's held them back from being a .500 team in the past. They also improved their bullpen and all the guys that were rookies last year should be better (hopefully no sophomore slumps).

Yeah the NL West is the hardest to predict, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rockies third, fourth, or fifth. I put them last because every single hitter in their lineup not named Todd Helton is unproven. They could all have solid years or all have awful years, you really never know with 2nd and 3rd year players. I think this is probably the best pitching they have ever had in Denver though.

That's a pretty good Met roster, only changes I'd make are put Chris Woodward on the bench in place of Boone (Woodward is basically a lock because of his versatility and he came up in the clutch last year). I also doubt Heath Bell makes the team since that would mean the only lefty in the pen is Wagner. I'll take a crapshoot and say Mike Venafro gets the lefty spot.

Only other changes that would probably happen is that Kaz Matsui probably has the inside track on Hernandez...though with a good spring Anderson should get the job. Endy Chavez also would probably be more likely to make it over Tike Redman (Endy has a major-league contract, is a favorite of Omar's, and has basically all of the same skills as Tike)

Also, I heard some guy named Uggla is getting a LONG look at 2B for the Marlins, not that it's gonna make them suck any less.

---

Overall, very solid work. How long did it take you to do this?

Yeah I dunno the NL too well. I put Hernandez at 2B because I thought I read somewhere that Minaya said the job is his to lose, but looking now I can't find anything about that. Redman or Chavez is a close call but at this point I think they'd go with Redman being that he is the better hitter.

I think you meant Perisho rather than Venafro, which you are right about.

Uggla will probably be on the Marlins roster but he won't start over Pokey. I didn't have him on there because, well, its the Marlins and I don't think anybody cares.

As for how long it took me, I worked on it for about 10 minutes a day as soon as the season ended.

I can defintely see Red Sox winning the wildcard or maybe finishing one spot behind it. I don't see them being that far back. Only thing that worrys me is if they get off to a rocky start and want to make some mid-season trades they pretty already dealt a majority of their prospects. The team is full of "Ifs" but if a lot of them work out, they will have a really good year.

I sure hope the Jays are better than 2 games over .500. I hoping they get close to 90 wins. As long as they are competitive all year, that's all I ask.

It's tough to say if the Mets will win the NL East this year. Last year I thought Pedro/Beltran put them over the top, but that was me being over-optimistic. This year, they certainly have all the tools and the talent to get the job done, buit the Braves just keep coming back every year. I fully believe the team can do it, it's just a matter of whather or not it happens. Gonna be really interesting.

Anyways, since I'm bored, here's my projected batting order to start the season:

SS - Reyes (a lock to lead off)
C - LoDuca (batting him 2nd will get criticism due to his lack of speed, but he makes great contact...something all #2 hitters should do. If it doesn't work out here, he can bat 6th)
CF - Beltran (Some say the pressure gets to him in the 3-hole, but I think Beltran will shine this year. Keep in mind, even A-Rod struggled in his first year in NY)
1B - Delgado (a lock for cleanup)
3B - Wright (6th is too low for him, could hit 3rd if Beltran gets bumped to #2)
LF - Floyd (he might not like batting this low...but the lefties will be split up)
RF - Diaz (beats out Nady in ST...purely a guess. Nady would bat here if he won)
2B - Matsui (him and Hernandez put forth similar springs...so the $7 million contract is the deciding factor)

April 3rd cannot get here soon enough...

As a Loyal marlins fan, i still refuse to believe they will be in last place or have such a huge blowout, i dont honestly think they have a shot of making the post season, but even with some of there big name pitchers gone, they still have a solid pictching rotation, think we'll lose a lot of close games simply because we dont have the bats, but i think maybe in the second half of the season as the young players begin to gather experience, we might make a Jack Mckeon style run, and push for third or fourth in the division, then again i could be completly wrong. but gotta have faith lol

The '06 Royals remind me of teams like the Pirates the last few years that go out and sign past their prime vets because their farm system sucks. They better hope it starts producing some good prospects or they'll be stuck in this rebuilding cycle for a long time.

Exactly. The Royals GM is such a moron, he has the lowest payroll in the league but he spends it like he is Brian Cashman. Going after the most expensive free agents he can afford, regardless of how old and unvaluable they may be. They need to continue to groom their young players while signing inexpensive free agents who can still provide value. Signing players like Mark Grudzielanek, Reggie Sanders, Doug Mientkiewicz, Scott Elarton, Joe Mays, and Elmer Dessens (who will combine for $17.5 million in 2006, almost half of their expected payroll) is not going to net you anything more than 5 wins, so whats even the point?

And fucking Mike Sweeney is still on that team, taking up 30% of the payroll when teams always want to trade for him and give the Royals young inexpensive players. Their refusal to take a sort of "Moneyball" approach is the reason for their continued failure over the years.

And their continued failure = less tickets sold = relocation if they don't get their asses in gear.

That's just a disgruntled fan wishing/hoping.

No, there games are fun. Plus, the Twins play there for David DeJesus tee-shirt night. Keep the Royals (until 2008)
