WWE Ultimate X Match?
Not saying they would (injury bullshit), but assuming they wanted to, could the WWE set-up a match similiar to the Ultimate X? I don't think there would be a law against copying a set-up like that.
I was just thinking, throwing some guys into an Ultimate X Match at WrestleMania wouldn't be a bad thing. Gregory Helms vs. Paul London vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Jamie Noble. That match would be fantastic. Pfft |

TNA can do Ladder Matches, Cage Matches, etc. Why can't the WWE do a "Cable Match"? I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know. If it is trademarkable, I'd say TNA would have done it by now. Maybe part of the WWE's reasoning for not doing the match is because they don't have a name for it? Let's throw ideas out there for them. The only one I can come up with is "Cruiserweight Crossing"... ![]() |

They could do it if they wanted. I highly doubt the WWE invented ladder matches, hardcore (no holds barred) matches, cage matches, stretcher matches, etc.

They could make the Ultimate I match.
It would be the same idea as the Ultimate X match, only you get on one of the turnbuckles, go to the center of the ropes, and then go to the center of the ring on the structure. That would actually be an interesting variation... |

I sure hope the WWE doesn't copy that match. It's pretty stupid.

Or you could get tag teams involved. MNM vs. Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Mexicools in a "Tag Team Turbulence Match" for the WWE Tag Team Championship would be pretty fun. |

TNA can trademark the name, but they cannot specifically trademark a wrestling match. Asking if they have is like asking if DC trademarked superheroes who could fly.
While he's on the wrong show and already booked for Mania, I'd love to see Mister Monday Night show up in any match in that vein. |

I think that they could technically patent the match's structure.

A patent is so far off the mark it stuns me it'd be mentioned. A copyright wouldn't work, as they could only copyright the description, not the actual match. As long as someone used a different description, they could do the same thing verbatim. A trademark is the closest, but they can only mark the "brand name." |

Why is it so far from a patent? You can patent anything, including apparatuses, which is what this would be.
If anything, this is closer to a patent than a trademark. I'm talking about the actual structure, not the name and rules. |

Patenting a "structure" doesn't work. You have to take a very loose view of the terminology for it to work that way. Let's apply some logic here: If the "apparatus" could be patented, why are there no other such patents in pro wrestling, and I mean literally none? You mean to tell me if WWE could patent the Elimination Chamber, they wouldn't? This does not fit the criteria set forth. |

WWE could do an ultimate X match, with a different name (Cables Match sounds like something they would think up), but I don't think they ever will.
To do so would be to admit that TNA had a good idea that they didn't think up first. |

Yeah, because they've never stolen anything from another promotion before.
