He defeated him with an F-5 from the second rope. It was a pretty short match, about 8 minutes long. If you've seen Lesnar wrestle Big Show, then you can picture what this match was like. Not sure how much longer NJPW expects Lesnar to carry the IWGP title, but so far, its been a big crapfest.

Akebono was climbed to the top, Lesnar stopped him, got him in a fireman's carry facing the crowd and simultaneously spun him and dropped backwards. Didn't look impressive, but it was a true test of strength.

Well, Lesnar now plans to be the only man to pin both Akebono and Giant Baba cleanly. Baba will be his next opponet for the IWGP Championship. Match is rumored to take place sometime in early summer.

Why do they have such long gaps between events/matches?

Because in Japan, wrestling is seen as more of a sport and the matches are treated the way Ultimate Fighting is here in America. Unlike in America, title reigns are looked back on for number of defenses, rather than length of reign. If you used wikipedia to look up the histories of the IWGP Championship(New Japan Pro), the Triple Crown(All Japan Pro), or the GHC Heavyweight(NOAH), you would see what I mean.
