Playing games more then once.

Do you guys play a game after you already beat it? I beat GTA San Andreas and there's no way I'd play it again. I find that once I beat a game like that it seems pointless to play again. The only game that I've beat more than once was Mario 64 and Goldeneye.

Right now I'm working on the Godfather but once I beat it, I can't see myself playing it again.

Do you play these types of games more than once? If so, why?

Yeah, but normally not all the way through. Mainly play GTA to just fuck around. Maybe a few years later I play through again though. It's like a movie. If you really like it, you'll watch it a few times. If you're "meh" on it, you'll watch it a few times, but longer gaps between. If it's shitty, you probably won't watch it again. That's pretty much how I feel about replaying games.

Games before the Playstation era are a different story obviously.

I'm going through Gears of War again. Actually enjoying it a bit more this time round. It's not the same, because there's not that caution where you don't know what's around the next corner, but at the same time knowing where stuff is coming from lets you prepare some great strategies.

I used to do that a lot for the older games (i.e. on SNES and N64), but for the newer ones I can hardly get through 1/4 of the game before I get bored.

No. A $50 or $60 game had better be 20 hours long, minimum or EXTREMELY good if it's shorter. Case in point: God of War. Short, but sweet. Most shorter games aren't that good, though.

Like back in the day, you COULD go through a game two or three times and find something new each time (like hidden items or something). Nowadays, one pass through is just about enough to find all the cool stuff (except for RPGs and fighting games).

If it's got mad replay value, yeah.

Wrestling, fighting, shooting and sports games come to mind.

The "Tales Of" rpg series has crazy replayability. There's usually twice as much to do, fight and find during the second run.

Lately I busted out some old N64 games. Fighter's Destiny, Perfect Dark, the THQ wrestling games... quality.

The only ones I really play again are the ones with great stories. Metal Gear Solid is the one that comes to mind first.

But I have a hard time playing through stories again. I just beat Rainbow Six Vegas and I want to go through it again but I have absolutely no motivation seeing as how I already went through it.

Depends on the game. I beat Ghost Rider (GBA) and Spider-Man 3 (DS) recently. Once I beat the game I didn't play again and brought it back to the video store (I rented them).

I'm sure once I start playing Twilight Princess again and beat it I probably won't play it again. There will just be so many other good games to play that Twilight Princess will seem too long to want to play again.

A game like Super Mario World has almost unlimited replayability for me. I haven't been playing it for 15 years straight, but I still play through it every couple of years.

I beat God of War, had intention on playing through it on God mode, but I just haven't felt like it at all.

I've played Sonic Advance 2 so many times over the past year.

I'm currently playing Super Paper Mario and Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (alternating both games). I know once I beat them I will be playing them again later. They're just so damn fun.

Right now I'm running through Ace Combat Zero again. To shoot down aces and get all planes. Always loved the series and it never gets old. Already psyched about the next one coming out.

I just wrapped up on Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Yakuza. Both are keepers, and both deserve another playthrough.

I normally have way too many games I want to play to merit replaying old ones. Some games definitely merit replays though. I've played FF7 4 or 5 times over (only beating it once...I'd always get near the end and not want to finish). Mario 64 got plenty of replay for me as well. I don't really think Gears of War counts, because its so short that I almost had to replay it on all the difficulties to finish the experience...not to mention the co-op.

But on average, I'm pretty anxious to get to the next game I want to play.

Like Funky said, sports games are easy to pick up again. Personally, if I think a game has a good story I'll play it over a fair bit. Examples are Metal Gear, or adventure games like Broken Sword or Discworld Noir.

If I even remotely liked it the first time, I'll play it again.

Several times in the past, I've chosen to replay all of my old games (or at least the good ones) before I get a new one. It helps me wait for a big game that I'm waiting for and keeps me from spending money on games that I really don't want that badly.

it really depends on the game. there are some games which you had great fun playing but the thought of playing them again makes you sick... DK64 for example, or GTA games just for some of the ridiculous missions

But other games, like Chrono Trigger, I must have played that game through at least 15 times (since 1995 mind you)... and then there's very short games like Star Fox 64 which you can play through like 10 times in a day.
