Light Heavyweights and Cruiserweights

Till now I considered Light Heavyweights and Cruiserweights to be the same. But while playing the Smackdown! vs Raw 2007 game, Vito was represeted as a Light Heavyweight and Chavo Guerrero as a Cruiserweight. I wanted to know the major difference between them. Recently I heard J.R saying that the Cruiserweight limit was 215 lbs. Is it true or just a general J.R. error?

Both the requirements for the Cruiserweight and Light-Heavyweight divisions have changed over the years. The WWF Light-Heavyweight title originally was for 215 and under, then it got bumped around between 220 and 225. The WCW Cruiserweight Title shofted around from 220 to 230 depending on the announcer. It's hard to say because no one ever really cared what they weighed. Both were code for "small guy" belt.

As for the topic at hand, I wouldn't put any stock into how a video game designed by guys who probably were stoned and weren't wrestling fans to begin with states stats.

When it comes to the video games the weight class is more of a way to figure out who could pick up who. Aside from cruisers it had nothing to do with titles in the game.

Lightheavyweight was always "215 and under" when the WWF brought the Lightheavyweigh Title back back in 1997. Brian Christopher was always announced as "214 and one-half pounds", to play up that he was "JUST within the limit", when obviously he had to be more than that.

WCW always claimed its Cruiserweight weight limit to be 225 lbs., since around 1996...and men such as Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho have held that championship, and I do believe they're bigger than the examples you were listing there, sir Chris.

Where do you get that from, though, because honestly, it appeared to be completely random.

They had an article about it on WWE.com. Course they had Batista on the Superheavy list, but that was when he was over 300. Now they list him at 270.
