Arrow If you were to end the brand split...

And had to fire enough talent to keep just one roster's worth for one tv show (for argument's sake, RAW) then who would you keep, and who would you let go, and why?

Also, what title(s) would you keep, get rid of, merge etc.

I will post mine shortly.

For the mainevent scene: Cena, Micheals, HHH, Bats, Orton, Edge

Midcard Scene: CM Punk, Morrison, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, MVP, Finlay, Mr. Kennedy, Burke, Miz, Cody Rhodes, Umaga, Santino, Chavo, Hardcore Holly, Sugar Shane Helms

Tag Team: WGTT, Highlanders, Cade & Murdoch, Londrick, Jesse & Festus

Diva: Beth Phonics, Victoria, Melina, Mickey James, Jillian Hall

Yeah, I think that is it. Since Jericho hasn't re-debuted yet, I haven't techincally fired him, but if he were to come back he would be mainevent.

You might notice 'Taker is not on the list. That is because he needs to retire.

Also you may note that Carlito isn't on my list. He hasn't done shit since he came on, so he is gone. Kennedy is barely in there. Also, D.H. Smith is gone because he couldn't make it 2 weeks before failing a drug test. If you are a new hire you don't deserve a 3 strike rule.

Pretty sure if it came to this, they'd just take a couple main eventers from the SD and ECW brands and can the rest of the non Raw folks.

I'd merge the WHC and WWE championship.

I'd keep the IC title, and merge the US title with it or chuck the US altogether.

Fuck the Cruiserweight title. In fact, fuck cruiserweights. No more affirmative action.

Women will have no title. Send them back to the kitchen where they belong.

ECW has no title, so that's easy.

Who would I fire? That's a good question, though I'm not sure much belt tightening is necessary. Back in the days of a single roster, they'd have upwards of 60 people on the roster, not counting valets and GMs and announcers. I think once you remove those from the current roster counts, you're pretty close to that, especially since ECW has like 7 people.

I'd give a more commited response, but it would require looking at the three rosters and cutting people fro mthem, and I don't think I wanna take the time right now.

THAT'S what you focused on? The man brought back Mideon, Sid and for some reason took the Steiners from TNA. Henry and Khali in the main event is so much better than SNITSKY! I think his list was a joke...I hope it was anyway...I certainly thought it was...

I would get rid of the World Heavyweight Championship completely, as well as the ECW title, merge the IC and US titles to make one jumbo IC title, unify the tag team belts, and get rid of the cruiserweight and women's title, at least for now. Also, bring back the European title.

So, things would look more or less like this:

Main event:

John Cena
Edge
Randy Orton
Triple H
Shawn Michaels
Batista
Kane
Chris Jericho if he decides to come back

Upper midcard/borderline main eventers/IC title division:
MVP
John Morrison
Jeff Hardy
Umaga
Matt Hardy
Bobby Lashley
Rey Mysterio
Santino Marella
Elijah Burke
Shelton Benjamin
Kennedy
CM Punk
Finlay etc etc etc

I don't care about everyone else

And I don't think that they would have to fire anyone off the roster. In fact, having more guys on the roster that aren't being used as much make the guys that are being used more credible. I find it kind of pathetic watching ECW with only ten actual wrestlers on the show, or RAW when the Highlanders and that trucker team make up half the show. The rosters were already convoluted enough as it was before they brought in ECW. Now everything just seems to be a huge mess.

I'd keep the following...

WWE World Title
WWE Intercontinental Title
WWE World Tag Team Titles
WWE Womens Title

John Cena
Triple H
HBK
Bobby Lashley
Undertaker
Edge
Batista
Kane
Big Daddy V
CM Punk
MVP
Cade and Murdoch
WGTT
Jesse and Festus
Holly and Rhodes
London and Kendrick
Jeff Hardy
Matt Hardy
Umaga
Santino
Finlay
Rey Mysterio
Ric Flair
Kennedy

I would use the developmental talent as jobbers when needed. I would also keep all the good women wrestlers.

I will post mine shortly.
To be honest my fellow Hindu, I'm not exactly sure. I don't watch the wWE regulary enough to really comment. I will say this though.

EVERY single character on *MY* show will have a purpose....a DISTINCT character.....a DISTINCT identity.

Think of all the greatest shows of yester-year. The Simpsons, Seinfield, Full House, ER, etc., etc., etc. You get the idea. EVERY single character was DISCERNIBLE in some way. Each CHARACTER had a purpose.

This is NOT rocket science.

During the Attitude Era, the WWE had almost EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER unique and discernible in some way....something of which caught the interest of the most casual and random fan out there. And no - saying "Kennedaaaay!" or "das not cool!" or some generic cruiserweight with some generic name doing a flip off the turbuckle will NOT draw in fans for the long haul.

The WWE is Sports-Entertainment, but they have to decide which is the heavier of the two. With UFC/MMA on the rise, if the WWE tries to portray itself as more of a SPORT.....they will get burned. If the WWE goes back to its Attitude Era ways however, and focuses MORE on character development, storylines, etc., then they will be fine.

And yes - great wrestling matches CAN and SHOULD definitely exist....as it did in the Attitude era.

To make a long story short - I would release ANYONE who does not have a strong character. "How is this guy going to make me money?" is the ONLY question that Vince should ask himself when assessing whether to keep certain wrestlers or not.

Ending the brand split, and I've been saying this since day one, is a bad idea.

Do you really want four hours of Cena, Dancin' Dave, Vince's over rated flavor of the month, Hornsaggle segments, Rey, Mark Henry, Big Daddy V, and Randy Orton?
Do you really want the same roster twice a week (with the idea that ECW's show will just die of the brand split ends)? Do you really want the storylines that we're already bitching about come at us faster?
Or how about Cena as champ for four hours a week? 12,480 minutes a year of "THE CHAMP IS HERE!!!!!"
And don't assume that armchair booking can save the brand split. We're not the money makers for WWE. The masses make the money. The masses wanted Cena as champ, so they got it for over a fucking year.

What they should do is limit the co-branded PPVs so the writers aren't trying to rush a main event every 3 to 5 weeks, and keep the brand split solid. Give each brand their own feel. Even something as small as bringing the CW title back to SmackDown and making ECW's count outs a 20 count.

So yea, go on and let go of over half of WWE's roster. Let's see how good for the wrestler's morale is when they're friends and respected workers are looking for a new job.
The only one's who would make any money if the brand split ended would be TNA because of they're fetish for WWE wrestlers.

Aside from SmackDown eating ECW I don't see the brand split ending. How about we talk about more logical stuff like the next person to save TNA or Bret Hart making his return?
