Since John Cena's return...

Since the return of supercena, do you look forward or dread raw and the ppvs now?

I know Im dreading them.

Because of Cena I always tune into Raw 30 minutes late and I dont really wanna watch the ppv tonight only because I know Cena will win.

Before Cena was injured, I couldn't stand RAW. I would have it on, but I would probably be on here talking on something else.

When Cena was hurt, I really started to get into RAW because finally the shows were less one dimensional. Jeff was pushed hard and was showcased great, and the shows just seemed better. Now with Cena back the same shit is going to start happening again.

Hasn't really changed anything.

I still tune into RAW every week regardless. Jeff's push was great to watch while Cena was out, but since Cena's been back (I know, only 3 weeks), Jeff's actually gotten more time than Cena has. But, I guess we'll see how long that lasts.

I'm looking forward to NWO but I'm not so keen on Raw. HBK / Jeff Hardy Far outshone Cena / Orton. Bearing in mind I only watch Raw Cena's return annoyed me.

I don't blame Cena because if Vince came up to you and said "hey we want to make you the top star" and you will win pretty much every match you are in, you wouldn't say no. But I was looking forward to not seeing Cena until WM. If they changed his gimmick to something I can relate to then I could like him, but I don't. And WWE's pathetic attempts to cover the boo's are just an insult to the intelligence of the viewers.

Agreed to a very large extent:

What most CENA-bashers on here aren't accepting, is that Cena isn't the ROOT of the problem. Case in point:

A) Before Cena came back, RAW was still fairly "bland" with Orton as the champ. Ratings weren't much different without Cena.

B) A few years ago, Triple H was getting similar criticism to what Cena is getting now (i.e. being a boring, "superhuman" champ).

In my opinion - the best way to remedy the "Cena" situation, is to give him high profile matches ON A CONSISTENT BASIS.

A) No more 'jobber' feuds with the likes of Umaga, Khali, etc.

B) No more feuds that have been done on numerous occassions (i.e. Edge, HBK, Orton....after this, etc., etc.).

EVERY time Cena has had FRESH and QUALITY opponents, the fans have ALWAYS delivered and shown excitement.

Case in Point:

-Cena vs. RVD @ ECW One Night Stand 2006
-Cena vs. Triple H @ Wrestlemania 22
-Cena vs. Shawn Michaels @ Wrestlemania 23
-Cena vs. Orton @ Summerslam 2007

If Cena feuds with the FOLLOWING people (in succession) in the next year or so, I guarantee the fans will go NUTS with excitement:

-Jeff Hardy
-Undertaker
-Dave Batista
-Hulk Hogan
-The Rock

As it relates to the latter two, hopefully it can be done. (I would've mentioned Austin's name, but he's gone on record saying that he doesn't want any more matches).

In which case, you probably should not have mentioned Rock's name either because on many occasions he has said that he is done with wrestling forever.

You've mentioned several times now your disappointment with Raw and ECW regularly, going so far as to mention it sucking. In light of that, isn't it incredibly stupid to look forward to it ever week?

Cena's character is easily fixable, which would make him infinitely more enjoyable. He's capable of some good matches without being carried, and he's definitely got charisma. But if they shove him down our throats, we'll get sick of him. If they water him down, we'll get sick of him. If he wins all the time...Well, you get the point.

But Heyman has come upon the crux of the matter, that Cena sucks because WWE sucks, not the other way around. Now, I'm not saying that WWE's done nothing right or that it's all Vince's fault, or whatever words someone's surely going to put in my mouth after the fact, just that the bad booking created Cena.

Jericho shows up, and it's like, "So what?" Orton doesn't seem to be very over right now, though maybe it was just a "bad crowd" the last time I watched. Hardy's over, and it looked like they were gonna work with it, and now Jeff's stepping aside for the Cena express. DX keeps popping back up, and I'm sure it's because it's another big merch mover. But it's boring, it's nothing like the old DX, and they have to pipe in cheers to make it seem like the crowd gives a shit. That's bad.

And Triple H in general...NEXT!

And while I'm at it, this Vince/Hornswiggle thing isn't going anywhere right now. It was kind of entertaining for a while, but really...It's old now. We get it. Vince's ass doesn't equal ratings, and the crowds seem to care less and less even about him getting outsmarted.

They still have a lot to work with, but Cena's just the most irritating symptom of the shitty booking going on. Sorry, "scriptwriting" by "agents" and "Messiahs": or whatever they're called now.

I'd honestly like to watch Raw again, but every time I turn the TV on Monday Nights, I find myself wondering what else is on, or just turning off the TV.

LOL at no one answering "yes."

Heyman is right, John Cena sucks because the WWE sucks, but he is just not an interesting or entertaining presence. To be honest, I think he needs to go to SmackDown!, just so he can have Michael Hayes right for him. It won't fix Cena overnight, but with the piped in cheers, and some solid development for Cena, I think he could become great again.

Wrestling is just so fucking boring. I try, I really try to watch and get excited about wrestling, but I just can't. I fell asleep the last two Raws during the 10:00 hour. And it's not like they don't have the talent or anything. They have one of the best single rosters in terms of depth then they've ever had. So how is it that I can't even stay awake anymore or even watch an entire segment without turning the channel? I think I can attribute this to a couple things.

1) I've seen it all. Nothing in wrestling surprises or shocks me anymore. They've done everything imaginable to where a storyline involving murder is like "meh whatever"

2) Giving away everything on TV: It's funny to watch guys like JR, Vince, Brisco or whatever say that one of the reasons WCW went under was because they were giving away PPV matches on free TV. The WWE is guilty of the same exact thing. They do it all the time to where nothing means anything anymore. Like for example, they'll do Cena/Umaga on Raw, then do it on a PPV in a Title match, then they'll come back and do Cena/Umaga again 2 months later. Only this time Umaga is in the midcard. Why should I care now?

Repeat Repeat Repeat: Some way, some how it will always come back around. And currently what I mean by that is Triple H and Undertaker. Here they are wrestling in the main even once again at Mania. Taker doesn't bother me that match because the match has something meaningful behind it. And I'm actually interested in that one. But Triple H again? I've seen HHH/Orton and HHH/Cena one times to many. I don't need eathier one of those again. It's like we're going back in time again and for Wrestlemania no less.

The feeling I have is why bother watching the past year if this is where we end up.

And TV shouldn't feel like an obligation, a chore, or work. Well, unless you're only watching because someone you know's on the air. And few of us will be saying that when it comes to wrestling, anyway.

I find it weird that we seem to have this cultural phenomenon going in in which people turn entertainment into a chore. Recently, Clox was trying to convince me to make myself like wrestling matches. Seems like a wasted effort to try and badger someone into enjoying something, but it happens a lot. I see the same thing in video games, where people actually try and defend long and tedious fetch quests and such.

It seems odd that with so many entertainment options available, we seem to feel obligated to enjoy ourselves. I don't get it. If you're making yourself watch, it seems pointless, which is why I stopped watching Raw. I realised that it felt more like a commitment than it did entertainment.

WWE tends to be horribly big on unintentional irony.

I mean, among other things, I tend to chuckle whenever I play a Smackdown game's GM mode. I mean, if you book like WWE does, you'll find yourself losing to the "rival" show in a matter of weeks: Stretching feuds beyond their logical conclusion, feuds that last two weeks, ignoring the fan response.

WWE tends to talk down about other franchises, but do the exact same things a lot.

Well, there's always that glimpse of hope I hold on to that "this week is going to be the week where something major will happen" I do usually walk away with at least something entertaining me in that 2 hour block, but it's mostly nothing to write home about.

There's also nothing on Monday Nights that I watch anyway. And to be fair I am online on You Tube or whatever doing other stuff while watching Raw usually.

TNA talks down while virtually cloning the competition.

I watch it and I'm reasonably entertained most weeks.

I'm not expecting it to blow me away because, well.. that's too much to expect for me - someone who puts nothing back into wrestling by way of money or ratings.

It's just a TV show and a means of escapism. It's never going to be anything more.

I think Cena is pretty good. I get excited for his matches.
