AWA- Yay or Nay?
I'm sure that I'm stepping on someone's toes here by taking the Yay or Nay thread and turning it into my own, but I don't think this is a topic that has been talking about on tpww.net.
The AWA was everything good, and everything bad in this industry for 30 years. You had great wrestling, legit stars, wrestlers that were loved so much that they could get in the WWE hall of fame without working for Vince, and heels that were shot at in the middle of the ring. They made a lot of bad choices by not going with the times (same thing that killed WCCW if you ask me), but they had to do something right because people are still watching AWA on ESPN Classic. So all in all, AWA, yay or nay? Quote:

Yay, even though I was never a big fan of any kind. It was before my time, and very little has drawn me to it.
Tons of respect for a lot of the talent it produced, and it's importance to the history of the industry. It's hard to give a "nay" to a whole promotion anyways. I mean, a promotions existence is a very simple thing. You either watch it, or you don't, but as long as it gives you one wrestler, match or moment of entertainment I don't see what's wrong with it. Even if it doesn't, then good for them. Unless it's a reprehensible establishment, I would never give a nay. |

Yay. solely for this line by Stagger Lee:
"What's right is right, and this just ain't right!" Side note: LOL at the Midnight Rockers being an "Innovative Team" (Shawn's own words), when who else should be in Minneapolis at this time? the Rock n Roll Express. |

I vote Yay. Solely for the fact that this is where Eric Bischoff got his start.
