I've said it before, but...
The worst part of brand extension is that Smackdown PPV events aren't followed up the next night. Instead, you have to wait almost a week.
It seriously diminishes the 24 hour window of hype and, well, giving a shit. For instance, last night's Hardy swerve requires answers and developments, and was build as such a big event. Now, tonight, there will be a WWE show that will more than likely do nothing about it. I like it so much better when the buzz regarding a PPV's events can be used to kick off, or define Raw the next night. That's how it is for Raw, and how it always used to be. It's borderline awkward for the same promotion to put on a show the next night and not do anything with the storyline. Now people have to wait til Friday, and like me probably won't even be around to watch it. On top of that, it's taped and a week later so it just doesn't have the same environment. People can read the spoilers too. I just think it's incredibly lame, and shortchanges the viewer, as well as the storylines. Thoughts? |

Just one of the bum deals of the show being taped really.

A way to remedy this would be to have tri-branded RAWs after at least the big four, since those are where the really important storylines develop. They could do it every PPV but it would become too redundant.
But I think WWE (internally) views each brand as a separate entity. Maybe ECW can be lumped into RAW, but I would assume that there isn't as big of a viewership run-over as one would think. Only the die hards are going to watch both RAW and SmackDown!, which may amount to 1.0 rating. The rest are either casual fans and single-brand fans (for the most part). |

They randomly do those 3 hour tri-brand PPVs. I don't know why they don't do those after Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble at least.
