Will the wrestling business peak again?
i was watching the 'Monday night wars' DVD last night and it reminded me of how good wrestling was during the wars and i feel glad that i lived to see it because i believe that was the peak of wrestling, 2 companies trying to out do each other forcing each other to get better and better now there is only 1, the wwe can just coast put on a lackluster show and still dominate the wrestling world and if you are thinking that TNA will be the push to get wwe and tna to a new monday night war, it depends on if tna will stay in business long enough and if tna makes enough money and that could take years possibly decades.

so i urge you to look back at the Monday night wars of the 90's with great affection because that is the peak of wrestling, it won't get any better than that.

Man, I hate to sort of agree, but you are probably right. The only reason WCW did it in in the first place was due to its funding from Turner. TNA is all by its lonesome, and won't be able to make a difference as quickly. Vince may have shot himself in the foot when he bought WCW, because it's been all downhill from there. I suppose the business would be better though if the 'cynical teenagers' were like actual wrestling fans again. Heck, even the fans as of late are giving up simply because neither company can seem to come up with anything new or exciting. They just need to ask themselves the same question that caused WCW to be on top; what can we do that has NOT been done before?

I think it will. By "The Wrestling Business" I mean WWE...They're trying to build stars for the future, since the ECW talent initiative program was introduced...something they haven't done since they were getting whooped in the ratings by WCW.

Yes, I feel like we are on the verge of one. Gertner hit it on the head. Obviously, they are not targeting us right now. And once these kids who watch today (I didn't realize how many kid marks there are today until I went to Raw in June) grow older, I think they will turn up the volume again to keep them watching. Where in 1994 right now. Give it a couple more years when the ten year olds become 13 year olds.

yes, maybe soon maybe not so soon, as soon as the next-next big thing comes along, like thay thought they had it with brock and actually they did but he didnt want to do it anymore so then they tried bobby lashley and that didnt work either cause he left too soon.....you never know who will be that next big thing. he might already be in the wwe, he might not....we'll see...

also they need to freshen shit up a bit, me and everyone else is probly tired of the same old fuck!n fueds... HHH vs orton vs cena vs the big show or edge vs whoever its gettin old

they need to make some new stars out of the younger guys and take the other titles more serious,
some new life in the tag team division would be nice, get a new unstopable tagteam like the way the road warriors were.... i like the hart dynasty, i liked carlito and primo but they're broke up now... legacy is awesome... they got a shit load of guys on the rosters that they dont even do shit with....
a new stable could do it... some of the young guys like shelton, haas, kendrick, r truth, ricky ortiz,

also i'm glad to see mark henry finally about to get the spot he deserves... let him get the title atleast once he deserves it, whether you think so or not... he's been there and loyal since like 96' hook him up with a decent push as a face give him some mic time and he'll prove himself

Neither of those guys were going to be the face of the company. A real "next big thing" would entail something that if not a Rock Hogan or Austin would hold a position of a similar nature. He doesn't even need to be an actual face, but he needs to be a representation that the world will give a fuck about.

Don't get me wrong, Brock was awesome. Mic skills aside, he had almost everything, but he wasn't going to go over as the real "next big thing." He would be the perfect foil or fodder for the next big thing, but that's different. Even if he had an amazing work ethic and a passion for the business, he wasn't going to connect with the crowd in that way. In other ways, of course.

New feuds will really hinge on new ideas, and new ideas aren't likely when Vince is in power. As long as Vince and company think these are the money feuds, they won't change shit up. They barely change shit up when one of their big names is injured.

I mean, i agree with you, just saying why it's unlikely to happen.

There I disagree. Mark is shite. He's gotten a lot more than he deserves in his career primarily due to Vince's hardon for hosses and a lack of new ideas. It seems odd to champion freshness, then applaud the same old thinking that prevents freshness.

WWE just doesn't get it. In the Attitude Era, it was dangerous, people took risks, they gambled on stuff that could have killed them. Today, it's just nerf ball; Vince McMahon sitting on his biscuit, not willing to risk it. It's kiddy shit.
