Best Royal Rumble of the last decade?
With the Rumble coming up, I've been watching a lot of the past ones. The Rumble is good shit.
![]() The 2000s had some pretty solid ones and overall almost all of them were decent or better. This is for the Rumble match ONLY not the entire card. Which one was the best in your opinion? and WHY? 2000 WINNER: THE ROCK Last Eliminated: THE BIG SHOW Rock's controversial win, Too Cool dance, bunch of over mid-carders something that is unheard of in todays WWE... 2001 WINNER: STONE COLD Last Eliminated: Kane Kane dominating everything, The Bros of Destruction killing Scotty 2 Hotty, Honky Tonk man, Drew Carey, Rock lasting over 30 mins, Bloody Austin, the build to Rock/Austin starts etc 2002 WINNER: TRIPLE H Last Eliminated: Kurt Angle Austin eliminating multiple people at once, "WHAT?", Triple H's entrance which was probably longer than 90 seconds, MR PERFECT! 2003 WINNER: BROCK LESNAR Last Eliminated: The Undertaker Rapper Cena days, Jericho/Michaels stuff, Lesnar dominates everyone at the end and sneaks one past Taker 2004 WINNER: CHRIS BENOIT Last Eliminated: The Big Show Lotta big names in the ring at all times here, Lesnar/Goldberg build, Benoit going the distance/the epic battle with Show at the end 2005 WINNER: BATISTA Last Eliminated: John Cena Eddie/Benoit to kick it off, Paul London destroyed by Snitsky, Cena/Batista ending with Vince hurting himself and sitting on his ass while ordering people to restart the match ![]() 2006 WINNER: REY MYSTERIO Last Eliminated: Randy Orton HHH almost goes the distance, Rey is the big time underdog win, RVD returns 2007 WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER Last Eliminated: Shawn Michaels Epic Taker/HBK battle at the end, just really interesting throughout... possibly the most unpredictable one other than 2008 2008 WINNER: JOHN CENA Last Eliminated: Triple H HBK/Taker start it off, solid people in the ring throughout, CENA RETURNS, MSG marks out....pretty exciting finish (even though people hate Cena, it was exciting because it was really a toss up over who'd win) 2009 WINNER: RANDY ORTON Last Eliminated: Triple H I didn't watch this one but apparently it sucked. Orton wins, Legacy dominates probably? Who you got?! |

2004. It was the only one in that decade where the person I wanted to win actually did.

I went with 2001. It kept my interest from start to finish and I found it to be the best booked Rumble other than 92. I loved Rocky coming in at #13 and him laying on the outside afte Big Shows attack kept the match interesting always because even if there wasn't big stars in the ring, The Rock was mere feet away from action. Of course this match was probably the highlight of Kane's career, him & Taker working together was cool. Taker & Kane standing in the ring after destroying everybody and waiting for their next victim, everyone expects it to be some mid-carder and Bam! Glass shatters. That was awesome. Best comedy spots in a Rumble too. The ending was real good too.
Second place would be 2002 and 2004, 2007 and 2008 round out my top five. |

2001 that was so bad ass Kane just destroyed everyone and was one of the last guys in.
I am totally picking that one because well I am Kane fan. So i am picking it just because of Kanes performance. |

2008. Only because I was there and I'm biased.
![]() And also because I feel it was a very underrated show by the internet since everyone claimed "OMG wurst rumbl ever!!!11" since Cena made a surprise return and won. The MVP/Flair opener was nothing special, but it was a perfect opener that got the crowd going, and the match actually meant something. JBL/Jericho was a decent brawl that planted seeds for Mania (even though plans fell through). Edge/Rey was a great "filler" feud to put over Edge on the Road to WrestleMania, and the finish was awesome. Orton/Hardy had excellent build to it, and though the match was a bit underwhelming and could have been booked better, I still really enjoyed it and they put on a real good match. The Rumble match itself was great too, as you can't get much better than starting off the match with HBK/Taker, and of course the shocker at #30 with Cena. If I wasn't so biased I'd probably also either vote for 2000, 2001, or 2005. Those were also great shows in their own right. |

If we're talking terms of Rumble matches:
2004-I thought it was the most solid Royal Rumble match, well planned out and we were guaranteed a new Royal Rumble winner as there were no repeat winners. Personal favorites are 2008 and 2000- John Cena's return was epic and to be a part of his biggest pop was awesome, the match itself was great and The Rock my third favorite of all time won the Royal Rumble in 2000 and it is probably one of the most solid PPV cards ever, well 2008 has a great card as well. The Royal Rumble is usually one of the best PPVs of the year. I enjoyed 2006, I just think they could have saved The Undertaker's return on Smackdown in a rematch between Angle and Henry. |

I voted 2006 for 2 reasons 1)because it was one of my personal favorites because the underdog won and 2)no one else voted for it and I like to be different

This is a really tough call, but I went with 01 as well. But I am also a big fan of last years, like Mr. Pierre's reasoning, due to actually being there. It was a fun show all around with a solid undercard, as well as Orton winning looking like he was going to be on a big run after just punting Vince.

I'd say the one I enjoyed the most was 2000 but that's mostly because it was my first Royal Rumble I watched and I was only 9 years old and the finish was cool. I loved 2001 and 2005 too.

Went with 2001. Biggest reason is it was really the beginning of the end of what had been an incredible era of wrestling. Also, seeing Austin with the chair gave you a glimpse of what was to come with his Mania heel turn. Showing just how driven, and even desperate Austin was to be ther champ, and the lengths in which he'd go to reach that goal.

Can't decide between 2001 and 2004. Both amazing rumbles. 2001 was probably the one year i wasn't sure who was going to win. It was heavy on stars and had some great moments and surprise entries.
2004 is a sentimental favourite because I love Benoit. It also acted as hype or set up Wrestlemania matches. Like Goldberg vs Lesnar, Evolution vs Foley and The Rock and Taker vs Kane. The Foley - Orton stuff in particular was great. 2002 was great also, 2005, 2006 2007 and 2008 were all very good 2000 was too much about two people The Rock and Big Show. 2009 was a bit underwhelming, same as 2003. I fucking love the rumble. I still can't choose though! |

Was it last year when Rey got tossed over only to use Miz and Morrison as stepping stones? Cos I actually loved that spot.

2004, no question. An awesome match all around with a classic finish between Benoit and Big Show. It sucks that the retarded son of a bitch has tarnished every great match he's ever been in, including this one.
2001 is a close second. A lot of big names in that one, Kane's performance was incredible, and Stone Cold finishing him off with the chair is one of the endings that I will always remember. |

Probably 2004 for the Benoit thing. Although 2003 was pretty cool, and overall they're all amazing anyway.

I've been dieing to see someone get thrown over the top rope and then hop around on one foot for a bit and get back in the ring. Has that ever happened?

I think that's Jimmy Rave on the floor.
Hmmm... perhaps Ted DiBiase should use his wealth to hire some fans to always put themselves under his feet in the Rumble match. He'd get thrown out, but then land on one of his lackies, then a couple other lackies would lay down and he'd take a casual stroll outside of the ring, on the backs of his lackies. Mysterio used Miz and Morrison as stepping stones in last year's Rumble.
