The Crusher Passes Away
Credit: Dave Meltzer
The One, Da Only, Da Crusher, one of the most colorful wrestlers and the biggest drawing card in the history of several cities in the old AWA territory passed away last night at the age of 79. Reggie Lisowski was a former weightlifter who was a cult idol and the top draw in most of the AWA territory during the 60s and 70s, until the Hulk Hogan era. He was best known world wide as tag team partner of Dick the Bruiser in the 60s but was box office as a singles wrestler far more than all the far more accomplished wrestlers that the AWA liked to use. --------------------- RIP. Only saw one match of his, but heard great stories of him from those who saw him. I know there's a guy on here who's a big fan of his. |

I was a big fan and so was my Dad. Rest in peace, and keep on chasing those 240 lb dollies. In heaven, they'll slow down and let you catch them. And the keggers you carry on your shoulders are light as heck, so keep running.

I've seen just one match of his as well. I've seen more than one clip, but only one full match. The one from the Road Warriors DVD. Edit: Yeah, wrong crusher............. Last edited by Xero; 10-23-2005 at 04:48 PM. |

WoW, sorry to hear this.
There is really nothing I can say here that would be fitting, except that we are continuing to lose the greatest generations of wrestlers that are still with us. We'll never see any others like them, and they'll never be duplicated. RIP

Not only that, but they are majorly underappreciated or unknown to today's fan.

I never saw any of his matches, but I have heard of him. My heart goes out to the people he has touched in his life, and I'll take a moment tonight when I pray to thank him for what he has done for the wrestling industry.
Rest in peace |
