Angle Idea #176: Banned Moves

Hey, who else thinks that WWE should make this banned moves issue into an angle? Like have this one wrestler that does a banned move toward the end of his match, then have his ass chewed out (in storyline) by Vince or Bischoff or Long. Then, the next week, he does another one and gets fined, etc. It could be another great "screw-you" type of angle where it's wrestler vs. boss but in a more specific way. Like somebody who, as a sign of protest, does a banned move whenever he can and gets into trouble for it.

Eventually, it would culminate into a suspension or something and whatever. I don't know, it the start of an angle at least. What do you guys think?

Nah, with Kevin Nash it was different; he did it because he didn't give a shit and wanted to break the rules. I would say that, in my angle idea, the wrestler does it because he believes the moves shouldn't be banned and that he knows what he's doing and that it's ridiculous for them to be banned.

And it wouldn't just be one move (like the jackknife powerbomb). It would be a whole set of moves banned (overhead suplexes, 450 splashes, etc.).

Also, this angle would lead somewhere, unlike Nash's angle, which just culminated in Nash doing it, getting fined, doing it, getting fined, ad nauseam.

Hell, you could have Helms try to bring back the Vertebreaker. When they force him to stop, he starts getting beaten a lot, and he starts to use it anyway. He could claim that Bischoff wants him to lose, so he took his finisher away. That would be kinda face-ish of him, but whatever. Just one idea.

Regardless, I think TR's got a good idea.

Well, we know he can get over as a face. So perhaps after a useless heel run on Heat, he could try that. Then he can be fodder for Tomko every week as a face on heat.

Could have Helms going for the IC belt against Benjamin or something (He'll win it back). Helms has the matc in the bag. Nails Vertebreaker. Wins the belt. Bischoff comes out and says that the win didn't count due to an illegal move.

You could do it with anybody really...

And then, to end the angle, someone gets seriously injured, so the offender is all like, "Okay, I'm done now."

I'll admit, I thought Gregory Helms when I read this topic, too. But then, after thinking about it for a bit, I decided that it would probably be better for Paul London (who might be out of the dog house, now). Have him hit the Calling London or London Calling, and then fined by Teddy Long (reluctantly), because management has put a ban on his moves. Have London almost snap, saying that he doesn't blame Teddy, but he's not going to put up with this, and it might have some effects on SmackDown!'s time restrictions.

Later that SmackDown!, London comes out and cuts a promo calling out Vince McMahon, saying he won't leave this ring until he gets this situation addressed. McMahon comes out and yells at London, telling him he's ruining the show by protesting, etc. Paul says that if Vince really listens to the fans, he'd know that they don't want high-risk moves banned, they don't want cruiserweights restricted in the ring because they might "steal the show". They want their action fast-paced and exciting. Hell, let London completely shoot all over the WWE product. He's a fairly good talker, and it would get him noticed.

Vince McMahon can then finally say that he doesn't give a crap about the fans, and that London's moves are still banned. In fact, until London learns to work, he won't be allowed to willingly leave the ring, or use the turnbuckles to elevate his offense.

London then goes a few weeks wrestling like this, putting on good wrestling matches, winning with the Waffle Face, kick-to-the-gut, standing shooting star press combination and the dragon suplex. Vince McMahon starts overturning decisions on WWE.com, saying that Paul London pulled the hair, that he used illegal punches, etc. So pretty much every win Paul London gets ends up being a disqualification win for his opponent.

Eventually London snaps and runs in during a tag team match, detsroying all four participants with a steel chair. He calls out McMahon again, and Vince answers the London's calling, but he drives the stake further into the heart of London by saying he will face his good friend Brian Kendrick at the next SD! PPV (let's just make it WrestleMania for arguments sake). The stipulation will be "Loser Leaves the WWE". The match ends when Paul London hits a massive London Calling on Kendrick, which gives Spanky the disqualification victory, but lets Paul London go out with a bang.

Hopefully by now the fans will be chanting "We Want London" at shows, getting into the underdog fighing the company angle, and Paul London can be in either OVW or DSW helping to train guys, and putting on some good matches with them to teach them some stuff. He can work closely with Paul Heyman, which could greatly benefit London, and then eventually you can bring him back in time for Summerslam, or something, with Paul Heyman by his side. Maybe have Heyman stop the WWE producing an ECW show (storyline-wise), unless he can bring in a talent of his choice. Vince McMahon can agree, only to be shocked when it is Paul London. Kick to the face of Vince by London, London Calling on the Chairman of the company.

If Vince McMahon really wanted to turn Paul London into a star, this is how he could do it.

Pretty soon they just started arresting him for using the move

I think that having an angle like this would be great. Finally, the people that didn't know that it was fake before would be let in on it. IE: Banned moves? You can't ban moves... They're fiiiightning... God, the conversations with these people would be so much fun.
