Roxer is that a practive field outside the dome?

yeah, call it a homer pick, but Gillette is great, not a bad seat in the whole place, plenty of consessions and rest rooms, etc... and it's not a 80K place, so even the top section has a decent view.

I also like (haven't been to) whatever the park that the SF Giants play at, and the Staples Center was nice when I was there.

No, all that stuff above it is to do with the retractable roof system. That big arch thing is absolutly massive in real life. What the idea is, is that the roof will be able to slide into position depending on where the sun is or which way the wind is blowing the rain and just block that out. It won't be able to close completly to make an "indoor arena" type thing like the Millenium Stadium or that Arizona one.

Also, what are the capacities of the American stadiums you're all posting and do they always sell out or what?

For the ones i posted; The Nou Camp is 98,000 and is the biggest football stadium in Europe. The Bernabeu is 80,000 and Wembley will be 90,000 when its completed.

I posted it for a joke, but I really don't like big stadiums to begin with, probably because English Football is right in the middle of all the old grounds being replaced by bowls that all look exactly the same, with no character, and with it, they use it as an excuse to increase the ticket prices, and add rules that force you to sit still and quietly for the whole match.

Also, I went to the Withdean last season, and for such a small ground, they've made a really good job of getting the fans to the ground. It's got a home and away supporters pub with a great atmosphere and Brighton fans are great people to share a pre-match atmosphere with.

It looks like that stadium in Japan where the pitch can be moved out of the stadium during day time for sun light and water and so on. Notice that in the second pic there's no pitch outside. I think the stadium in Schalke, Germany works like that too.

Professional Stadiums aren't build as big because the teams want to make money off season tickets. If you have a huge ass stadium, tickets will always be avaiable but when you have a smaller one, you will get a lot of season ticket sales because tickets are a lot harder to come by. I know in college, Ohio State has over 100,000 and so doesn't Michigan. A lot of college football stadiums are 90,000-70,000+ too

Gillette hold around 68-69K for a NFL football game, every game sells out and their is a waiting list, of I think around 60K for season tickets.

College stadiums can hold 100,000? Thats pretty mental. The largest stadium in England at the moment can only hold 67,000 and thats for the biggest football team in teh world. (although i think they're currently upgrading it to 75,000 and Wembley will be 90,000 when its finished).

Are they all seated or do you have standing areas? Football stadiums in this country have to be all seated now but i think terracing is still allowed in Germany and other parts of Europe.

SBC Park holds like 45,000 or something and really only sells out on opening day or for the playoffs. It's pretty much the same for all baseball stadiums including Camden Yards, the only ones that sell out every game are Wrigley Field for the Cubs and Jacobs Field for the Indians and I dunno any more.

The Rose Bowl is like 100K. The actual Rose Bowl game is the only game played there and it is completely sold out.

Fenway park has sold out for a couple of years.

I'm pretty sure of at least 4 that are over 100K, Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State & Ohio State, there may be a few more and I know there are a bunch of 80K's. I think Michigan or Penn state holds the most, but I'm not positive on that and yeah the college stadiums typically sell out.

UCLA's Rose Bowl can host a little over 100,000 people. Neyland Stadium @ The University of Tennessee holds almost 105,000 people. Penn State University's Beaver Stadium can hold over 106,000 fans. Now with the recent additions, Ohio Stadium @ Ohio State holds around 101,000.

I believe the biggest in all of NCAA is the "Big House" Michigan Stadium @ The University of Michigan, which now can hold nearly 110,000 people every saturday during the season.

Those are the 5 biggest stadiums in the country.

Kyle Field @ Texas A&M will join the 100K list in 2008, when changes to their stadium will allow them to host over 103,000 people.

So, I was right (yeah, I said 4 and missed the 5th ucla, should have known that since when I lived in LA my roomate and a bunch of friends were all UCLA grads).

I've been outside of Michigans stadium a few times on business, it's huge, but you don't notice it as much because of how far down they went, I'd guess close to 1/2 is actually under ground.

With everything they have done to that whole area, I think it looks even better than the original. I get to drive past it on my way to and from work everyday.

I was there on opening night against Green Bay (the only game I've been able to get to in the new place), but I might try to pick up season tickets for next year (to go along with my White Sox package).

PNC Park... Just a Beautiful Stadium... Not a bad seat in the house... The view of the city is priceless....now if we can only get a decent team to play in it we will be alright...

I was probably right near your work during the summer then haha

I went to a Cubs/Red Sox game, and stayed at the Parlmer (or is Parker?) House hotel in the City. We walked around city and rode cabs and shit. Checked out Solider field, it was pretty sweet. I also saw it from the top of Sears Tower - Chi Town is really a great city. I had a great time but I was only there for a weekend, I wanna get back
