I've heard the NHL theory as well that they didn't want two Canadian teams in the Cup final and they wanted LA to push the league. It's logical, but so are most other stories which are complete bullshit. They still had a chance in game 7, but stunk up the joint.

I do believe Hockey is played in more countries than baseball.

Baseball is the true niche sport. A passive, rather dull american pastime.

Two teams that I can see falling out of the playoff picture in the West, are the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers. The Canucks are one of the most talented teams in the league, but they are also one of the laziest. That's NOT to say that the Canucks aren't gritty when they want to be....because they can....but they are far too inconsistent.

The Canucks' goaltending, defense, and overall grit is far too inconsistent for them to do anything at this point. The Canucks' top players (Naslund, Bertuzzi, Jovanoski) seem to fade away when needed the most as well.


The Oilers have great hussle and team chemistry, but they may have the worst goaltending in the ENTIRE league. This could haunt them down the stretch.

All I heard was that the San Jose Sharks were the front-runners for Owen Nolan's services (Flames and Leafs were the other two teams interested).

Given the Sharks interest in Nolan, I'd assume they have enough room to get him.

Regardless of what happens however, Sharks could be a 1st round nightmare for any team they face if they sneak in.

Brian Berard tests positive for steroids. It wasn't an NHL test, but a ?olympic? test. Anyway, he gets a 2 year ban from international play but is still considered in good standing with the NHL. - I find that latter part ridiculous.

Whatever it is this doesn't help the NHL's image of being weak on drug users, luckily for the NHL no one in the states cares so there will be no pressure for them to change

Of all the games on NBC, they show the one I have no interest in. Yeah, Detriot and Colorado have a good rivalry, but I'd rather see Crosby or the Sharks.
