I watched plenty; so I know how they made themselves known.

And it's by doing things that so many claim they hate (the same people that worship what ECW was); a couple of those things being "worked-shoots" and talking about other promotions.

Yeah, ECW had 3 or 4 guys shoot on how they were treated in WWE or WCW, but then they also gave these guys character, gave them directions, gave them a gimmick and built around them. TNA has these guys come to TNA bitch about WWE and whine, then be the same boring shit in TNA they were in WWE.

Yeah, Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, Stevie Richards, Tommy Dreamer, etc. sure took those gimmicks a long way...

Would you phone in matches if it was only a 2 day title reign? Which is how long Rhino 's reign actually was.

I wonder if it was our buddy who posed this question to PWInsiderXtra.com...

So far the roster list of superstars for the "New ECW" still looks pretty thin as far as a tag team division, but I know it's too soon to really speculate. Plus, Vince could justify using the trademarks that he owns.

It's possible, but it would be a really stupid idea.

Yeah, and guys like Steve Austin, the Dudleys, Van Dam, Mysterio, Chris Benoit, etc never made it anywhere. WWE had guys like Waylon Mercy, Tatanka, and T.L. Hopper, WCW had guys like Glacier, Road block, and Johnny B. Badd. God forbid ECW have a couple of unsuccessful gimmicks. Then again, ECW didn't really have TOO many unsuccessful gimmicks, just ones that wouldn't translate well to mainstream. WCW and WWE have had a ton of just plain dumb fucking ideas. I'm not saying ECW isn't perfect, but to discredit a company on the basis of some unsuccessful gimmicks is retarded. You may as well say WWE should be dead and buried, TNA was dead from the start (I mean, the johnsons... .come on) and WCW didn't have a chance in hell.

How did I "discredit them"? Those were just the facts; and they just happen to differ from your opinions...

If they wouldn't translate well to mainstream, according to some people posting in this thread/board, it means that they weren't successful. Well, unless of course they were in ECW; because we all know that everything Heyman's done has been great. So, I guess I see your point.

I never said everything Paul E. has done was great, I know much much better than that. I am an ECW mutant, I've never denied that, but Paul E isn't perfect. Just as WWE isn't, but to discredit what ECW did for the business and to claim they didn't make successful stars by overlooking guys like Austin, like Van Dam, like Benoit and just mention Dreamer, Balls, etc shows a huge bias. It also avoids the facts to prove your own point. The fact is, that while TNA has lost more money already than ECW, ECW made more stars than TNA ever did or most likely ever will.

Ugh, we have to give credit where credit is due.

ECW did NOT make Austin or Benoit a star.

WWF made Austin a star.

WCW/WWE made Benoit a star.

ECW did make RVD a star. And Raven, and Rhyno, and Tazz, and Tajiri, etc.

ECW gave Benoit, and Mysterio, and Guerrero there big break in America.

But it didn't make them a star.

ECW gave Austin that certain attitude, or feel, if you will, that would later translate to "Stone Cold" in the WWF. As for the guys mentioned, I think ECW did a lot for them, all things considered.

I mean, the WWE had Balls Mahoney for a cup of coffee once. Xanta Claws was REAL over, eh?

Yeah, ECW really established Rey and Benoit, especially. I mean, you can argue about Austin, but really, Rey especially was already a household name. I know who he was before I even got TNN on the local cable.

WCW at times tried almost everything to not make Benoit a star lol. As they did with Jericho and hell Austin too.

Without ECW those guys likely don't get the chance to be a star. Hell without ECW there might never have been a WWF Attitude era.

WCW at times tried almost everything to not make Benoit a star lol. As they did with Jericho and hell Austin too.

Without ECW those guys likely don't get the chance to be a star. Hell without ECW there might never have been a WWF Attitude era.
It's always humorous when people claim ECW meant so much to wrestling, but then turn around and dismiss what wCw meant.

If not for wCw, there's a strong likelihood that the WWF/WWE would never have even looked at bringing in the Jericho's, Benoit's and Eddie Guerrero's, seeing as how much they were [and still are] in love with the steroid freaks before wCw started beating them.

Where did I dismiss WCW, all I was sayings as that on numerous occasions Benoit was frozen by WCW in the midcard, he broke through only as a desperate attempt to make him stay with the company. They did a lot ofgod for the business no doubt but they also tried to squash the popularity of a lot of guys,

He's an illiterate cunt, Lara. Basically, the implication is that you mentioning they tried not to make Benoit a star is dismissive of them en generale.

Yeah, I'm sure the booker who's wife you cheated with still trying to put you over = not trying to make you a star...

Just being in the wCw midcard made him more of star than ECW ever did or could have...
