... The Lightning Seeds, one of the best and most underrated British bands of all time. From 1989-1999, they produced some of the best 'pop' songs ever made. Trouble is, when people think of 'pop' they think of manufactured boy bands, wafer-thin girl bands and cheesy productions. Ian Broudie and the crew created perfect three-minute pop songs with genuine musical talent and ability, yet get overlooked for seemingly more "credible" music.

It's not to everybody's tastes, but check out these videos. (And I guarantee you that you will recognise at least one of these songs in the "I Know That Song But I Never Knew Who It Was By" category.)

Liverpool has produced some great bands (The Seeds, Beatles), great soaps (Brookside!!) and some great birds (Ellison). You know what I think I might move there.

Another great thing to come from the land of scouse would be my middle-aged former workmate, the best joke teller in the world, he's from (hmm, I wanna say Runcorn?) and has an ENORMOUS Everton tattoo on his arm. How bout dat?

A lot of people from Runcorn sound fairly generically scouse so yeah probably.

There was supposed to be a new Seeds album late last year, but no news since.

I did hear that Broudie's brother died (suicide from the top of Liverpool Cathedral) so maybe that understandably held things up.
