Seriously, though, Angle was the only choice they could have gone with. I mean, there was Samoa Joe, and I had recently warmed up to the idea of him being the first, but I do think Kurt Angle was the best choice. I mean, he's headlined WrestleManias, won sixth World Championships (arguably seven), has the gold medal, etc. He is a great "establishing" Champion.

Of the others, AJ Styles should only be the first alphabetically; Christian Cage has been entertaining as fuck, but is still seen by some as a WWE reject (what sets him and Angle apart is that Kurt was a top guy in WWE, whereas Christian was just an underused mid-carder); Chris Harris was getting his first real crack at the main event; and Samoa Joe, while a perfectly fine choice, only really has his independent accolades to throw into the prestige pot. A nice chase to beating Angle for the belt should definitely be on TNA's agenda, though.

But seriously, Angle having the belt is all good. I just think the whole 'holding the belt up' stuff was pretty fucking daft/pointless/not needed/waste of time/delete as appropriate/all of the before.
