Or we see a commonality of a serious question being met with a stupid response.

He was never a real draw. He had no mic skills, he had no charisma. He was a great technical wrestler that wrestling promotions let get wins and titles. Remember, this stuff is scripted and to list his accomplishments is something of a joke when you think about it. The WWE hall of fame is nothing more than a marketing thing anyway and as such it's bad marketing to include a guy that the world knows is a killer.

you're right... titles held has nothing to do with this... it's scripted... Now, you could argue promoters and maybe refs for years served and interviewers and announcers... but actual wrestlers, that's a good point... yeah, I change my vote... it's based of marketing... he doesn't go in... based on it's not due to wrestling wins/titles... it's popularity and marketing. |

I posted earlier no. But I do have an interesting point to bring out.
Jimmy Snuka is a HOF, and he was accused of beating many women including killing his GF in 1983, while no charges happened many feel that he did do it and he lost his chance to get a I-C title reign and a possible World Title reign. |

Another reason why I think not is the things WWE is doing, like pulling off all his merchendise and completly removing his name from all DVD descripitions and match listings.

I think once WWE does another "Who Killed Vince" angle and proves to society once and for all that murder is cool, Benoit will be a shoe in.

Yup. So if we're going based on character and actions, Eddie deserves to not be there. |

Yes, from a wrestling standpoint, Benoit should absolutely be inducted into the HOF.
HOWEVER, it certainly cannot be next year, or else it would seem really bad. Wait till a few years down the road, then when you do induct him, mention ONLY his wrestling career. |

Eddie Eventually changed after a lot of hurt and a lot of damage, and BEnoit never had that chance. Eddie's choices would have left him out of a reputable hall of fame in a real sport. So again, for the mentally handicapped, if we're going to make the statement that Benoit shouldn't be in because he wouldn't be in a real HoF, let's not be hypocritical and justify a drug abuser. Cue yet again some fucktard saying "So doing drugs are as bad as killing people?" |

If Vince/Steph/Shane/HHH thought they could make money, he'd be in there tomorrow. But public sentiment is against that right now, so unless that changes, Benoit won't go in.

No, people that kill their families and then kill themselves need to be inducted into the Hall of People That Killed Their Families and Then Killed Themselves.

Here's my take (and I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if I'm copying your answer):
I want to see the aftermath first. I answered "no," because at the moment, what he did is a tremendous black eye to the sport. He was a phenomenal performer, but his actions this weekend have put such a cloud over professional wrestling that it may never recover. This is the same reason I don't believe Mark McGwire shouldn't go into the Hall of Fame. He brought attention back to the game... but not all of it was for the right reason. Now, if down the line it turns out that Benoit's death causes actual federally-observed drug tests and Vince (or someone) providing for psychiatric evaluations... Something that could actually prevent something like this (or Eddie or Pillman or Hennig...) from happening again? If that's the case then - by committing an unbelievably heinous act - Chris Benoit may actually save professional wrestling. In which case, put him in immediately. As a sheer performer, I'd say he absolutely deserves in. But considering the fact that the WWE Hall of Fame is an imaginary place anyway, I can understand WWE not wanting to put him in a positive light given the circumstances. |
