I know there are a lot of Benoit threads, but this news is just creepy...
I mean, creepy as Hell.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19468182/?GT1=10056 Wikipedia posting is eerie twist in Benoit case Web site posting referred to wife's death 14 hours before cops found her The Associated Press Updated: 8:39 p.m. ET June 27, 2007 ATLANTA - Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit’s Wikipedia entry to mention his wife’s death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son. Benoit’s Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife’s death. A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., where World Wrestling Entertainment is based. An IP address, a unique series of numbers carried by every machine connected to the Internet, does not necessarily have to be broadcast from where it is registered. The bodies were found in Benoit’s home in suburban Atlanta, and it’s not known where the posting was sent from, Bass said. Benoit strangled his wife and son during the weekend, placing Bibles next to their bodies, before hanging himself on the cable of a weight-machine in his home, authorities said. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday. Also Thursday, federal drug agents said they had raided the west Georgia office of a doctor who prescribed testosterone to Benoit. The raid at Dr. Phil Astin’s office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. No arrests were made. Hours before the raid, Astin told The Associated Press he had treated Benoit for low testosterone levels, which he said likely originated from previous steroid use. Among other things, investigators were looking for Benoit’s medical records to see whether he had been prescribed steroids and, if so, whether that prescription was appropriate, according to a law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity because records in the case remain sealed. Astin prescribed testosterone for Benoit, a longtime friend, in the past but would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office Friday. State medical records show that Astin’s privileges were suspended for three months in 2001 at a Georgia hospital for “reasons related to competence or character.” Astin did not return calls to his cell phone from the AP on Thursday. Anabolic steroids were found in Benoit’s home, leading officials to wonder whether the drugs played a role in the killings. Some experts believe steroids cause paranoia, depression and violent outbursts known as “roid rage.” Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said in a statement Thursday that he could not immediately comment on the raid. Benoit’s page on Wikipedia, a reference site that allows users to add and edit information, was updated at 12:01 a.m. Monday, about 14 hours before authorities say the bodies were found. The reason he missed a match Saturday night was “stemming from the death of his wife Nancy,” it said. Reporters informed the Fayette County district attorney’s office of the posting Thursday, and the agency forwarded the information to sheriff’s investigators, who are looking into it, a legal assistant said in an e-mail to the AP. WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt said that to his knowledge, no one at the WWE knew Nancy Benoit was dead before her body was found Monday afternoon. Text messages released by officials show that messages from Chris Benoit’s cell phone were being sent to co-workers a few hours after the Wikipedia posting. WWE employees are given WWE e-mail addresses, McDevitt said, though he did not know whether Chris Benoit had one. “I have no idea who posted this,” McDevitt said. “It’s at least possible Chris may have sent some other text message to someone that we’re unaware of. We don’t know if he did. The phone is in the possession of authorities.” On Thursday afternoon, the Wikipedia page about Benoit carried a note stating that editing by unregistered or newly registered users was disabled until July 8 because of vandalism. In other developments Thursday, Ballard told the AP that 10 empty beer cans were found in a trash can in the Benoit home. An empty wine bottle was found a few feet from where Benoit hanged himself, Ballard said. It could take several weeks for toxicology tests to be completed on Benoit to see what substances, if any, were in his system. Benoit took four months off from work in 2006 for undisclosed personal reasons, McDevitt said. “He was feeling depressed, that kind of thing,” McDevitt said. In the days before the killings, Benoit and his wife argued over whether he should stay home more to take care of their mentally retarded 7-year-old son, according to an attorney for the WWE wrestling league. The child had a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism. Chris Benoit’s father, Michael Benoit, declined to comment on the slayings when reached Thursday by telephone in Alberta, Canada. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. © 2007 The Associated Press. This was reported earlier this afternoon. It's suspected (I won't say confirmed because I can't remember what the source was) that the same guy who edited the page with his wife being dead also edited alot of other celebrities pages with random comments.
More than likely, someone just throwing unknown facts out there and just happening to be correct in this one instance. Creepy that the IP was from Stamford but he could have used some sort of program to make it look like it was or something or it could just be an odd coincidence. It was also speculated that Benoit himself edited the article. |

All of which is legit. I'm not going to pretend that this is proof he didn't do it, but fuck is it creepy.
It's easy enough to alter one's IP address, but the timing... Again. It's probably coincidence. It's just....FUCK! |

From WO
In a really bizarre story regarding the story going around everywhere about Wikipedia at 4:01 a.m. on Monday posting that Nancy Benoit had passed away, long before authorities knew, and it was removed 20 minutes later due to a lack of confirmation, my belief is that it was nobody who knew anything. The edit came from Connecticut, but not from WWE headquarters. My feeling is that this is just a bizarre coincidence. The WWE later found that on its chat line at 8:41 p.m., during the PPV, after Benoit missed the show, someone on a WWE chat said that he missed the show due to his wife dying. Later, when the person was asked where he heard the story, he said, "Meltzer reported it." An hour later after the Wikipedia entry was taken down, someone from Australia edited it and again put that Nancy Benoit had passed away, attributing it to "several pro wrestling web sites." I didn't know of this until today when questioned by WWE who asked if Benoit had called me, which he hadn't, nor did I report it or know anything until Monday afternoon, after the WWE wrestlers were told. It appears it was a hoax started by someone and given credibility by usage of my name, no more than the daily fake stories people make up on MMA and pro wrestling chat boards, the appear to have led to the Wikipedia edit, this become a big story, and it may be nothing more to the story other than an eerie irony. |

Benoit death notice posted online 13 hours early
Friday Jun 29 07:00 AEST By ninemsn staff A notice announcing the death of pro wrestler Chris Benoit's wife Nancy was posted on Wikipedia at least 13 hours before police found her dead at her home nearby the bodies of her husband and seven-year-old son. Employees at Wikipedia told FoxNews the posting came from an anonymous user on a computer in Stamford, Connecticut on Monday at 12.01am. Police found the bodies on Monday at 2.30pm, in Benoit's Atlanta, Georgia home. Stamford is the location of World Wrestling Entertainment's headquarters. The posting was made in reference to Benoit's scheduled appearance on Sunday night at an Extreme Championship Wrestling event in Texas. "Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy," the post reads. The edit was deleted shortly after by a Wikipedia moderator, who wrote the comment: "Need a reliable source. Saying that his wife died is a pretty big statement, you need to back it up with something." About one hour later, a user located in Australia made another edit to the passage, writing: "which according to several pro wrestling websites is attributed to the passing of Benoit's wife, Nancy." "Saying 'several pro wrestling websites' is still not reliable information," a moderator replied shortly thereafter. Investigators so far have ruled the Benoit killings as a double homicide-suicide. New reports show that former pro wrestler Sherri Martel, who was found dead on June 15, was linked to former wrestler Kevin Sullivan — the ex-husband of Nancy Benoit. Police, who are still investigating Martel's death, say there is no foul play suspected — but she did not die of natural causes. This is really fucked. Read the writing in the bold. Conciedence |

Ok, I'm gonna let my mind totally get far fetched for a second...bare with me.
Combine this Wikipedia thing with new reports that a bottle of near empty wine was found on the floor and 10 beer cans were found in the trash in the room Benoit hung himself. The thing that jumps out to me is, why would a man who was about to kill himself care if the empty beer cans got put in the trash? What if there was someone in there with Benoit having beers with him and then drugged him (slip a mickey)? Someone of significant size and strength could easily have killed Benoit the way it went down and made it look like a suicide. Then confronted Nancy, tied her up and killed her. Then the boy. Hell, with enough drugs...he could have even waited til last to kill Benoit the way the autopsy report shows. Benoit could have even made the reported calls/conversations with Chavo after initially being drugged and not even realize it. Chavo said "he sounded tired and groggy." Until the bitter end, Benoit was rescheduling flight plans with seemingly full intention of making the shows. The Wikipedia thing and the text messages could have been enough to try and draw attention to the house, yet leave it so mysterious that it would have been hard to suspect that he was in fact being framed. Yes, clearly there are alot of holes in this far fetched scenerio...such as the autopsy time of deaths, etc. But the more shit that comes up like this, the more I'm taking Benoit out from under the bus that I've been throwing him under. Before you can say it KK, I know this is really REALLY fucking stupid. ![]() Last edited by Arnold HamNegger; 06-29-2007 at 12:39 AM. |

I think the booze is being over-emphasized. Who knows how old the beer is, and I imagine he drank the wine to get through what he did and was about to do, Alot of suicides drink beforehand to ease them along and make it harder for them to fight out.

i am one for conspiracy theories as much as the next guy , and to me something about this whole situation still doesn't sit right, especially the wikipedia thing. who the fuck guesses that a guy misses a show cause his wife died??
one thing i have wondered is the authorities say it doesnt look like anything was stolen or taken from the home, probably cause within 2 minutes they said it was a homicide suicide. They say chavo stayed there recently if i remember correctly, and i assume his other kids have been to that house, it would go a long way for someone who has knowledge of the place to come to the place and confirm nothing looks to be out of place, gone missing etc.. |

We should start blaming the booze on it. Hey, if steroids are fairplay....
Anyway, I seriously doubt anyone in the state of mind to kill their kid and wife would be worried about drinking to ease themselves into suicide. |

I'm trying to not think of conspiracy theories, but with the Wiki thing, it's a tad hard at the moment. It probably, was most likely, maybe a shit disturber who heard of Benoit's "family illness" and to be an ass on the internet, said Nancy was dead.
I have no fucking clue about this. |

Here is your conspiracy.
There are many losers on the internet that sit on WIki and change things all day to crap that is false. Plain and simple. I have seen this 100 times. This guy heard Benoit wasnt going to be at the PPV, so he changed the page to reflect this rumor that his wife was dead to fuckwith people who read it, but it just so happens that she is dead. is says nothing of the son or Beniot himself, so I doubt this person had any idea what was going on. |

I know this is going to sound like I'm "defending a murderer" again, but I have to say something:
If not one person who's involved in this investigation questions Sullivan about any of this, then I will officially lose all faith in the police over there, because you would have to be a outright fucktard to NOT at least have all your goddamn bases covered. And...how the fuck do they know that it's the same person who did the other edits? And if Sherri Martel DIDN'T die of natural causes, but no foul play was suspected, then how in the blue hell DID she die? C'mon, you sorry excuse for investigators, give us SOME type of indication that DarthTedious is correct on you being able to DO YOUR GODDAMN JOB!! (I'm sorry, too, but after report after report after report giving us some random shit without much substance, I'm convinced that someone needs to come out and tell us what the fuck they are actually DOING over there and give us something concrete. I'm beginning to say "murder-suicide my ASS, this is a TRIPLE murder here"). |

Now, if I can be serious for a moment...
I ask this question: if someone actually KNEW what had happened, why did they write that Nancy Benoit "had passed away" instead of "was murdered?" If someone KNEW she was dead at that point, they'd logically have known how it happened, and would likely not content themselves with informing the world via Wiki without getting major attention with ALL the details. I'm still thinking "wild, creepy guesswork." |

Lets just go down the conspiracy theory for a second, say whoever put up the wiki info did indeed have knowledge of the events, the press have sort of giving it minor interest because of the other posts made by the same i.p,just take it as tell the truth but hide it amongst lies to disguise the fact.
Or maybe the benoit thing was lies and the stacey kiebler thing was true who knows. |
