Hmmmm, okay so everyone's going on and on about the smackdown Champion Curse...well I have one for all of you, sense I've been visiting this here board almost 2 years now, I've watched the rise and fall of a multitude of wrestlers among the board favriotes. I also noticed something else....As soon as said Board Favriot becomes a champion you as a whole turn your backs on them.

Case in Point.

Randy Orton: Pretty much 3/4th's of the board was creaming there pants or underware or which ever over this Evolution member. Every other post on this board ussally disolved into a Give Orton the Title Thread. He gains the Title, turns face and less then a month later Everyone says he sucks (Backstage off camera Antics aside)

Triple H: We cry foul every fucking time he gains the title because He's Boinking the bosses Daughter. But, Let him tear a quad and be gone for 4 months and were all BEGGING for him Back. But, I gurentee it, soon as that belts around his waist again...Will be Begging for someone to shoot him.

Batista: We adored him, he was big muscle bound and well kinda cute (I'm a girl) We thought he was awsome and EVERYONE wanted him to take the title off Trips. He does it and what happens...Tista Sucks, we don't want Tista as Champion give us.....

Taker: Well, this is a hard one and the board is ussally pretty devided about Taker, He sucks he dosn't suck, oh why oh why can't he have the title..oh now he's got it and......booooring new Champion now!!

Edge: We liked him, wanted him for Champion, gets the Title and we hate him....

Cena: He had skillz, was Awesome, funny and entertaining as fuck....He gets the title and......You geussed it....He sucks!

Now, I gurentee it, you all are singing the praises of One Ken Kenndy.....

See, there's a slight problem with your logic here. You're implying that the only thing that changed was people's opinions, and not the wrestler themselves.

Orton was more over for his gimmick and in character attitude than his ring work. He becomes champ, and they immediately turn him face, getting rid of what everyone loved about him.

HHH is brillant when he's not champion. When he is though, he tends to get into a routine, and much like Cena, every feud seems to be EXACTLY the same. Plus, very few people like a title reign where we can't believe the opponent has a chance. During HHH's reign of death, much like Cena's reign now, most fans knew Trips wasn't dropping the belt, so there was really no excitement to his matches.

Batista. I was never a huge fan of him. A lot of people praised him for his backstage attitude, his humbleness, etc. Later, the major news was that he was a total prick backstage, huge ego, etc.

Taker: I haven't really seen anyone turn on him. People usually either really like him, or can't stand him. They ususally dont' switch

Edge: Who hated Edge?

Cena: Not only totally changed his character from what people loved, but also has the superman syndrome, making no one care about his matches, since 99% of the time, he'll win.

You'll note that he had "skillz" when he was rapping, heelish, and used moves like "the throwback." You're making it out to be some huge conspiracy when it's a very, very, very simple formula...Change the character to somethnig less interesting and force him down our throats, and we won't like him.

There was an Austin-esque anti-hero on the horizon, and people were excited about that. What they got was a Hogan-esque bore.

What about Angle? Benoit? Eddie? Oh, we turned our backs on them.

And while you're making up instances, Lashley? Everyone loved him. Except, of course, they didn't. Oh, and John Morrison. People have turned on him! That's another thing, nobody changed sides on Batista until he came back and sucked. He was a more than acceptable champion during his first run (yes, you can be a decent champion if you're being carried.) The night he handed his title over on Smackdown, I really thought he had just written the end of the first chapter of a story of greatness.

Then he came back and I realized that he'd gotten fat* and lazy while he was away. A damn shame.

But anyways, nobody** turned on Batista just because he became champion.

The reason most people turned on Orton was because he was much better off as a heel. He was perfect as a heel which is why many people were a fan of him. Then when he became face it just didnt seem right. We no longer saw the bad ass Orton that once was and instead got a horribly watered down goody 2 shoes.

Ive been a fan of Triple H since I first came back into watching wrestling back @ Wrestlemania 14 and I can honestly say that not once have I ever hated Triple H. While I do prefer him better as a heel, I have not turned my back on him when he was a face. Do I like that he gets the belt all the time and others dont?....no...But hell...He is pretty much one of the best at this time.

The only time I ever liked Batista was when he was a heel in Evolution...before Evolution I didnt care much for him and once he started moving the way of a good guy I just hated him more than ever...besides Cena he is probably one of the top people I hate the most.

I have nothing much to say about Taker...I mean I respect the guy because he has been around all this time and I remember being a huge fan of his when i was little. I dont really care much for him now whether or not he holds the title or not.

I have been a Edge Head since his first match in the WWE. While I prefer him more as a heel than a face...I have never turned my back on the guy no matter which side he stood on.

I would just like to say here that I have never liked John Cena...when he first showed up I never really thought anything good or bad of him. Then when he started the rap gimmick as a heel I hated the guy of course. Then when he became a face I really started to hate the guy. Then when he went and they ended up disgracing the title belts for him is where I decided that I have no love for Cena...and doubt I ever will.


Now as far as Kennedy goes...I like the guy...and im sure I will like him for a long time. He is just one of those guys that fits the heel role perfectly...now if they turn him face then I might have a problem..

You see we dont just turn our backs on people for any specific reason....they chracters on these people changed to something that we pretty much dont care for. I honesty pull more for the heels than the faces so I usually hate all the good guys.

Everyone has already answered in the most part, but...

Cena & Orton = Characters that people loved were morphed into a vanilla babyface (Cena) and/or a character the guy can't play (Orton).

Batista = Got injured came back half the wreslter he was. No-one disliked him for actually becoming champion.

Taker & Edge = People were happy with these guys, then they got injured.

HHH = Is a different case. He was hated for hogging the belt but now people can't wait for him to lift the title. But I have a feeling that's more to do with the guy that currently holds it.

part of the problem is, people thought of him as great because he was "playing"a character, then saw how badly he sucked at anything else.

Also, I love him as a heel. totally overlook his stuttering, his sloppy skills, etc. But as a babyface, and at this point in his career, as Champion....No.

People hate Cena because he has had the title for the past 11 months, which, granted, does sort of make him look a little bit like HHH with his past long-time title reigns, but eventually someone will put him in his place and take his precious “bling” from him. Probably not Lashley this Sunday, but hopefully once SummerSlam is done and over with he will have dropped the title, and hopefully will go heel now or sometime in the near future.

He get's a mixed reaction (Cheers from women/kids, boos from everyone else) as it is. You turn him heel...the smarks (& most guys) wil cheer and the women/kids will boo.

Most of these have already been dealt with, but there are two I would like to address.

The first is that I do not want to see Triple H with the belt. Fuck, I wouldn't think twice if he wasn't coming back at all. I really don't give a fuck about the guy, and I am hoping that he decides to be Ric Flair's opponent at WrestleMania 24 next year, so there is a chance we won't see him with the WWE Championship until then.

John Cena is the other. I was protesting him before he became WWE Champion. Even since he had that stinker of a Best of Five Series with Booker T on SmackDown!, I've never seen anything too special in the guy.

Turning John Cena alone won't change anything, but the logical developments that come with a heel turn (playing the honest corporate suck-up he is) will hopefully play some more resounding notes, and his character will click right for a change. He will feel less forced, and in my opinion, more enjoyable. Especially considering the man is just bland as a babyface.

Anyone who needs to be fed a constant string of bodies to look good is not "the man." He's a subpar number shined up by production and made to look better by the people around him.
