I used to mark out so hard for Stone Cold when he first became "Stone Cold" and during that whole feud with McMahon. I even liked him as "Stunning" Steve Austin, and his ECW stuff was pretty good too. I never really marked for Eddie. Ever. I liked him, but he didn't grip me the way Austin did.

My vote goes for Eddie.
I'm one of the very very few people who absolutely hated Austin during the height of his popularity. His redneck badass character never appealed to me, neither did his overcome the boss/odds angles during his feud with Vince. Heck, what people complain about Cena nowdays is pretty much what I felt about Austin back in the height of his popularity. I never saw much of his WCW run, so I can't judge that. The only time I could honestly say I liked Austin's work was in his short heel run with the alliance...but even then, the WHAT chant made him an annoyance after a while. Sorry, he just never did it for me and I never got into his character...I also thought he was way too one dimensional with his badass character as well. Eddie on the other hand, I loved for his heel work and his cruiser stuff that I saw in wCw, but I thought he was brilliant in his heel runs in the WWE. Didnt like Eddie as a face, but even then, he never came to be as annoying as Austin was to me during the height of his popularity. Also, I enjoyed Eddie's in-ring work much more then the majority of Austin's that I saw. Perhaps its because Austin's character annoyed me so much or maybe its because his in ring work didnt appeal to me as much again. So anyways, my vote goes for Eddie although I doubt he has a chance against the ever popular Austin. Heck, I doubt anyone has a chance against Austin. |

AHH Dest you did keep your word. This is one of the 2 men I would vote against Eddie.
I have to go Austin. He is in my eyes the greatest thing, next to HBK, to have happened for the E. The persona was great, the feuds with McMahon, Rock, Trips..loved them all. I wouldn't argue that Austin was a better wrestler hold for hold than Eddie, but I just think Austin brought so much more to the table. Sorry Eddie, Vote goes to 3:16. |

Austin. Wrestling-wise never the same after his neck injury, but that didn't matter. He was never supposed to go out there and be performing and Asai moonsault into the third row. He was the attitude era.

This has been really tough for me. But the more I think about it the more I realize that it's tough due to personal bias. Eddie was great in the ring, he put together some of the finest matches ever seen. But Steve Austin got the crowds hotter then Eddie ever dreamed of doing the little he did. Eddie had a longer run than Austin; but Austin put more buts in the seats in his short run on top than Eddie did his entire career. Steve austin was more succesful in short period than Eddie was in his entire run and it would be bogus of me to put Eddie over Austin. as much as I want Eddie to go into the HoF, I just can't vote for him.

He had a nice U.S. title run in WCW too. Or TV title. Or something. Who cares, Austin FTW.

The idea is the cometition gets harder every round. Meaning that the 5th match be REALY tough. Now obviously that wont be the case everytime because my veiw of a wreslter will vary from TPWWs veiw of one from time to time causing a blow out. But if anyone is going to get into the HoF they should have to earn it.
And if Eddie beats Steve Autin he will have. |

If you mean better "wrestler" then it's Eddie Guerrero hands down. Think of his matches with Rey Mysterio in WCW, or Dean Malenko in ECW. Even before the neck injury Stone Cold couldn't touch that.

Wrestler is a job title and has as much to with in ring as any other criteria. Wrestlers have to talk just as much as they have to work a match.

I couldn't decide, they are both great. As good as they were, I did not really enjoy seeing them on my tv. Granted no channel turning was done, just that the connection was off. So 2 great workers that were good at pretty much good at everything that I did not feel get a draw.

I called it a draw.
Eddie was so much better in the ring, I just have never been big on Austin's work, he could really get a crowd into his matches though. Plus Austin did cut some very good promos whether in ECW or WWF. Of course, the angles with Vince were terrific, but how much of that credit can be given to steve, most of that is done by the writers, Im sure Eddie could have been in some great angles to if the writers would have given him that kind of material. Austin > Eddie oustide the ring Eddie > Austin inside the ring =Draw |

And I never said anything about making their own material. (Even though that isn't relevent.) |

You said that it was just as important as the in ring work.
How can it be important if its all made for you? How does that reflect the ability of the wrestler at all? |

Delivering lines is what MADE The Rock. you think he cme up with all that? No. You think his in-ring work put him over? Obviously not with the fans turning on him in '97. and it's not really about importance as much as I'm saying there's more to being a good wrestler than putting on good matches (unfortunatly.)

To be fair, what in wrestling does have the same impact that it used to? It's so genralized with them trying to a product for everyone that they end up having a product for no one.
