Not really. Okay, Punk only has until Wrestlemania to cash in his MITB and it is quite clear he will not be ready for the WHC or WWE by then. Anyone feeling him HEEL swerving Kane and cashing it in after letting Miz and Morrison lay him out?

If they start to really push him around SummerSlam he could easily be ready for at least the WHC by the Rumble.

If they waste the MITB shot on the ECW title it's really a shame. Because even if it WOULD give the ECW title a slight boost in prestige, it still will be and always will be the shit title.

The only person that can use the MitB for the ECW title and not waste it is Tommy Dreamer.

I think Punk could cash it in against the WHC or WWE Champion, but he'll probably lose.

The only way that really should work is if it starts a program between him and the champion which eventually leads to him winning the title. I'm all for him losing if it means building a decent feud out of it.

In all honesty, it was probably too early for Punk to win it. He should have already been established on one of the bigger brands before he won it.

I imagine that he'll fall victim to the curse of the briefcase and get injured before he cashes it in, and loses it to William Regal who will be supreme ruler of the WWE and can book the champion in tough matches and tease a cash-in for weeks.

That is why I'm an afraid they will be content to waste it on the ECW title. I mean, yeah, they could push him hard towards the WHC around Summerslam, but if he does win it I'm afraid he would get a 2004 Orton effect.

(no, not the drugged up fuck up, but can stay massively over even if he loses every week. although he is more over than he should be currently for being a regular on the C show)

I would like to see him continue this mini program with Edge, maybe have Edge rack up a few wins and so he gets cocky and offers Punk a PPV match thinking he can beat him easily etc.

Punk runs him close in a really good match and Edge decides he isnt going to let him near the belt again, Punk then cashes in MITB and wins the belt.

(Edge is still champ aye?)

I'm trying to decide what I would like to see more, CM Punk using opportunity to dethrone "The Ultimate Opportunist," or Regal taking the WWE Title off Triple H, and Punk then taking it off Regal.
