Should they have gotten a legit push?

I liked the Gymini with Dean more that Maven. They were two solid big guys and I thought they were better that the Basham Brothers (partly because they actually looked like each other ) and I thought they worked well with the Simon Dean gimmick. What do you guys think?

No, but they should have been given more of a chance than none at all. It's just too bad WWE doesn't care about tag teams.

I know that "Simon Dean" (aka Nova from the old ECW) is a great worker, and it's a fucked up shame that he never, ever got to have a decent match in the WWE. It was always a squash; I don't think the guy won a tenth of his matches. But I've seen him wrestle as Nova in ECW and he was phenomenal for his size, moved like a cruiserweight. Whatever though.

Maven? Maven got a lot of chances. He was in line for a push toward the upper mid-card around New Years Revolution 2005, but he just could not perform on the mic, so they buried him pretty much for good. Also, who could forget his horrendous match against Goldust at WrestleMania X8? Everyone, no doubt.

In short, Simon Dean = yes, Maven = no.

Simon Dean/Nova? Yes.

Gymini? Meh.

I don't recall Gymini getting much of chance to make an impression before the one got hurt. And during the injury, Simon got snubbed from tv, so...bad luck, I guess. But, "bad luck" can often be attributed to "bad business", and in the case of Simon Dean, we have a very clear example of that. Gymini? Hard to say. But Simon Dean could have been "Matt Hardy heel" big.

The only time I enjoyed one of the Shane Twins, was when Brian Kendrick gave one a Sliced Bread #2, and it looked awesome. They basically took ring time away from Simon Dean by getting a more talented worker, and limiting him to a manager role. The Basham Brothers knew their way around the ring, and were solid talents that could be trusted to go out there and carry a tune in the ring. The Gymini? Not so much.

They might have had potential. They needed some time in OVW. Not DSW. That developmental territory was shit. The only good it has ever offered is Kofi Kingston. And Krissy Vaine, but she was around for all of one episode of SmackDown!.

Simon Dean was fantastic. On the mic, and in the ring. When he was on the roster, he was easily the most misused talent the WWE had. I think the gimmick was fun, but I always felt it was meant to be a joke. I'd rather they had just used Mike Bucci as Nova, and let him wrestle.

Maven was fantastically fun as a heel. You got a nobody, and you turned him into a wrestler. You have to give him room to grow. Granted, he had three years in the WWE, but I never felt he was particularly offensive. I really liked his heel character, but then the WWE pulled the plug on him, pretty much.

Mike Bucci needed to be used better, Maven could have been a solid mid-carder and a fun part of the roster, and The Gymini probably should have never been used at all.

On a side note, Maven's title shot was the greatest Raw main event I've ever seen.

If Maven had a big heel by his side, to ensure victory for him, he'd have been great.
