Repairing Xbox 360 discs
My disc for NHL 08 has a couple of slight disconnected scratches near the outer perimiter of the disc, not the common ring near the inside. I bought the game used like a month ago off eBay. When I try to play a game, sometimes it gets to the loading screen just before the game starts and just freezes. Other times I am able to play a few games consecutively with no issues. Anyone have any idea if there is any way to repair the minor scratches?

Also the scratches are in the same direction as the spinning motion of the disc, so they may be from the laser or whatever.

I did google it and didn't really find much. I would have preferred to have input from anyone that has actually done it personally also.

I see stupid tutorials on youtube where they use toothpaste, I dont know if I want to risk that since the game still works sometimes

Toothpaste works due to the abrasive nature. If you're worried about that, throw on one of the millions of products designed specifically to fix CDs or DVDs.

Also, Lasers scratching Discs?

Yeah, there's a ton of Disc Cleaning products out there that would work. A friend of mine severely scratched his copy of GTA IV because the silly bastard turned the system on it's side while the game was playing...scratched the crap out of it apparently. He bought an $8 fix from Wal-Mart and says it works fine now.

Finally tried toothpaste and doesnt seem like it made it any better or worse. Maybe I should try Colgate Total instead of just normal Colgate?

I used to use Crest, because it was the one known for a whitening smile. That translates into the abrasives you need.

That's pretty cool.

At the local Blockbuster, they don't even resurface their own discs. They mail them to another site, get them all done there, and mailed back or something like that. If they do them at all. A lot of the discs are scratched in the first place, and the most they'll do is use windex and a coarse paper towel to "fx" them.

I dont know man, our blockbuster does it, they have a machine, that sort of looks like a waffle press, only it has grooves for discs, and you put it in, and your disc comes out looking like new.

The one at family video where I worked at (I got fired for not having a personality), but it looked like a PC Tower, was fucking gigantic. They said it was mad expensive and shit, wasn't worth it as didn't do that great of a job.

Just to bring some closure to the situation, I finally went to my local Blockbuster and they fixed it with their machine for $5. It works beautifully now, thanks guys
