Early 1991

Does anyone remember between Royal Rumble 1991 and Wrestlemania 7, a masked wrestler running in the ring after various heels matches (I remember Dino Bravo and Rick Martel as 2 of them) beating the shit out of them and then running out again?!? He wore brown tights and acted a bit mental like the Warrior but he was definitely a smaller guy. I only saw him a few times and WWF didn't carry the angle on after that.

Who was that guy??

FTM:

That was Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake/Ed Leslie/1,000
other gimmicks.

In 1990,Brutus was involved in a BIG parasailing accident,
and needed a MAJOR operation. After that,he returned to
WWF wearing that weird get-up,and did run-ins on various
squash matches, attacking the heels (as you said).

He was supposed to continue doing this character, and the
angle was to go further, but Brutus' injury wasn't fully healed,
and rather than risk injury, they dropped the gimmick (one
wonders why they didn't have someone else do it until he
could get back - although thankfully they didn't).

They never released the actual name of the gimmick, but
rumor was it was set to be called "The Mariner" or "The
Avenger",but they dropped it.

The fans (due to the get-up) have always called it "Furface"....

No, you are thinking of the whole "tanning bed, steroid, peroxide" accident.
