Allied Powers Question
I'm confused now. I was reading some In Your House results from back in the early days on Wikipedia (the sites awesome for reading about all the old feuds and matches) and I came across the Allied Powers. Some of you who watched back them remember them as the short-lived team of Bulldog and Luger.

Anyway, you may also remember around this time, August/Sept 95, Diesal was feuding with Mabel. Wikipedia says that it was the Raw before Summerslam 95 where Bulldog turned on Diesal in a tag match with Men on a Mission


But I swear I remember earlier in the show Bulldog saying something like "my partner went down south for an emergency or something" as to explain Lex's absense for the night. Now I always took that as a reference to Luger jumping to WCW. But Luger appeared at Summerslam and left a week later accorfing to Wikipedia


Am I missing something here. Does anybody remember Bulldog saying that? Does Wiki have the dates wrong maybe? I always remember Bulldog turning heel after Summerslam.

Can't help you LC. I stopped watching the WWF during the mid 90's, about 94 really. Didn't really come back until 97. I've played catch up since then.

Maybe it was Davey shooting on him talking with WCW? No clue really.

I could probably answer this for you, but I'd have to dig through a couple of boxes of old WWF tapes.

I have almost every WWF PPV from 1993 to around 2000 on tape.

This is Summerslam '95. At around 1:55 Lex runs in to try and help Diesel, but Diesel attacks him because he isn't sure if he is with Bulldog or not, a point which Vince references. Wikipedia notes this is Lex's last WWE appearance.

I seem to remember Bulldog's heel promo with Cornette saying something along the lines about how he was tired of being unappriciated. When he was with Lex the people chanted "USA! USA!" When he wrestled against Owen people chanted "WE WANT BRET!" I don't remember anything about a down south reference. Maybe you are remembering something from the promo a week after the tag match.

The Superfans should really have a blogring with some kind of FAQs page for those of us that have seen them off and on for the last fifteen or so years and want to know just who the fuck they are.

cool, that vid proves it that Bulldog turned before Summerslam. It must of been after then where that promo occured. thanks man. Summerslam 95 is like one of four WWF PPv's from the 90's that I have not seen.

You should check it out, it was a hot show. Except for the dreadful main event.

Even better when you consider the bleak landscape of the WWF at the time. In a day when Vince and co were stuck in a major rut, they managed to produce the goods on PPV for Slam '95. Even the filler matches (and there were several) were short and entertaining enough. Hakushi vs Waltman was a great opener. Bret Hart pulled a fair match out of Isaac Yankem (who wouldn't have another for several years afterwards). Michaels vs Razor was arguably superior to their better-remembered classic WrestleMania X effort. Even Barry Horowitz was involved in a fun match.

I think it may have been when Bill Watts was booking, and Vince was giving him full control of the WWF.
