You increase that with reversals. I never increased it until the WWE championship when they actually got some offense on me.

Don't think so. I don't even think it affects career mode too much as I've been playing on hardest the whole time and it wasn't even halfway difficult until WWE Championship

Even Normal seems weirdly easy to me, until I hit the World titles and it switched to the normal ludicrous AI countering I've come to expect from the Smackdown games.

Yeah apparantly theres a curve there, where it gets harder as you play more and more of it. Drawback to it however is that it's supposed to get stupidly hard just as it moves from stupidly easy.

I think Career Mode starts on normal but I'm not sure. I managed unlock Resiliancy and Durability in the same match and it wasn't easy.

The Batista/Rey RTW is pretty poor IMO. There's no story for the first month!

Guess I'll have to give it another go so that (playing as Bats) I can have Rey win the Rumble instead of me / help him win the title rather than not bothering.

I'd probably say 8/10 as well.

-Solid gameplay
-Best roster since SYM/HCTP
-Create-A-Finisher is a little underwhelming, but good for a first try
-Not really sure why Create-a-Belt/Create-a-PPV were taken out, but no big deal
-Haven't tried highlight reel yet but it looks fun
-RTW is fun, wish you could be a heel though
-Create-an-Entrance is still fun
-Downloadable content and a CAW stat patch on the way

I'm really enjoying the game despite not playing a SVR in a few years. The CAF is alright I guess, but probably would have preferred the GM Mode over that. RTW is pretty good too. They could have maybe been a tad longer or have more people to it. But in some ways I also like the length as you can easily finish it in one sitting. Though in regards to RTW, I don't like seeing the opening video cut scene everytime and have to wait like 20 seconds until announcers talk. I usually skip that scene now as I am impatient. Also I have troubles hearing announcers over music sometimes even after I changed sound settings. But I had same issues with GTA, and I think that it is more to do with my setup then the game.

Overall probably give it an 8 out of 10.

My buddy from Miami bought the game up and we had a few matches. It plays alot like last year but there's a smoothness to it I can't put my finger on... I really like the targeting system. I never thought in a millions years I'd applaud a partly automatic system but here I am. I only had a minute in the CAF but I threw together a sweet gut-kick to Sweet Chin Music combo that looked boss. Can't wait to own the damn game.

Was kinda put off by the different controls at first (since i'm used to 07), but it's grown alot more on me in the past few times playing it. Lovin RTW so far using Jericho.

Something like that. My oust from Miami leaves me living with my parents again, and this town sucks. I'm dependent on rides which aren't very dependable. This is why I haven't been sampling new shit lately.

I'm kinda annoyed that I have to go through the Undertakers 'supernatural' story again just to get zombie Finlay. Forgot to save on a different file to come back to.

Working on my CAW in career ATM. He has the ECW, US and IC titles, and is working on the Cruiserweight. Currently hovering around the 60 mark, with one more ability slot to fill. Gonna try and fill that with the kip up.

I'm in same boat for Takers storyline. Making sure to get all other bonus options but need to redo his for Zombie Santino.

Got to do Batista and Cenas RTW left.
As for my CAW I got one tag title and the 2 championship titles left. Also for the WCW title is that in career mode or no?
Did one match for a heavyweight title and def saw a difference in difficulty level.

7.7/10. No excuse for not including the Highlight Reel feature on PS2, and I agree with the review on IGN, basically saying that you should be able to piece clips together and use them for a C-A-S's entrance video. Kinda meh-ish this year, but still slightly better than '08, albeit only infinitessmally.

I think it's unfair to judge the game by "Last" generation standards.

It's similar to me running the newest FPS with incredible graphics on my shit can PC and complaining about the graphics being "subpar".

They're bound to make the PS3 and 360 games a little bit better to encourage you to buy the newer consoles.

More like they're better because the hardware in and of itself is better, but you're right. The simple fact is more power = better graphics.

Never the less, this game is leaps and bounds better than 08, because of the simple fact that the main mode isn't broken.

It's probably the other way around. It seems like this gen, they've actually skimped on a lot of features for next gen games to make PS2 owners feel less left out. That and the Wii...But the PS2 is selling nearly as good as the PS3, so it's natural they're going to try and hold on to that platform. It's nice to see them throwing in things for people who...You know...Bought a next gen system 2 years ago.

Anyway...There's a regular career mode, just no "story" mode except for the 6 RTW deals? Because other than unlockables, I don't think I care about RTW anyway. How's the gameplay this time around? Most of my concerns seem to have been addressed, but I'm still kinda sorta on the fence in terms of purchasing.

Well, the walk/standing animation is better. They don't look like they're ice skating as much and they did away with all the ridiculous standing-in-place animations.

I guess everyone hated the abilities system from 08 (never played it due to horrible previews and, reviews across the board) but the system they have now is pretty straight forward. You get six slots into which you can insert a bunch of different abilities like lock pick (press y to escape submissions instantly), steal taunt (massively demoralizing to opponent if successful), evasive dodge (uhhh, self explanatory), foreign object (ability to grapple with weapons), kip up (if you get too beat up, you kip up and instantly have a finisher ready to go), etc. It changes things up, mostly in a good way, but certain abilities mean that it detracts in general from regular abilities of the past games (the submission specialist ability means that you can only make a guy tap out to a sub if it's a finisher if you don't have the ability).

The load times are vastly improved.

3 letters: D, L and C. So far, Super Crazy, Evan Bourne, Charlie Hass, Ted Dibiase and a few second third attires are confirmed through video as DLC. Even better is that their moves, music and trons get added to the CAW sections. Also, they're actually providing support for the game. They're supplying a patch that will fix a couple of nagging issues such as not being able to clone a built up CAW and have the stats transfer over too and not being able to change your abilities once you've unlocked them.

Alo, the controls are kinda weird at first, but actually quite functional after you adjust.

Also, whilst I'm here.

For next years game I'd love to see them add a "Create-A-PPV" mode. Not just in the sense of producing a card but actually creating an arena (So I guess Create-An-Arena is probably more appropriate).

Surely it wouldn't be too "out there"?

You'd be able to name it, then design the graphics for it using the existing PPV styles and a few generic ones thrown in for good measure. You could select an entrance by mixing and matching parts from the existing sets and then choose colour schemes for the ring and ropes etc.

Would anyone go for that idea?
