I just wonder if you'll still like them now they've started playing some of their older material combined with the direction their new stuff's heading in...

Screw you.
![]() They're kind of moving backwards these days, blending their more recent stuff with parts of their older, heavier nature... and it's actually working rather well, but could easily end up alienating a large chunk of their fans. |

Yeah I've heard a few songs off of each album, my friend has them all. I dunno, I can't explain it, I just don't like them. Kinda like how I like A Perfect Circle 1000x more then I like Tool.

Yeah, they're getting a ton of shit from both sides. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Ah well, it happens. Personally I doubt RCA are going to like the new material, since it's hardly as commercial as Antenna was. And if you believe the rumours flying around they're already damn close to being dropped.

It's funny, because they got slammed really really hard for Antenna.
Now, form what I've read, they're getting slammed really hard again. On the other hand, when a major label signs you, there's a huge tendency to listen to them. Look at early Dream/Extreme stuff, then compare it to their ST release...The record label convinced them that hair metal was the way to go... ![]() |

I think they admitted that when doing Antenna they were specifically writing it as a major label record, going for shorter songs and stuff. Then towards the end of touring on it, they started getting bored with it and revisiting their older stuff. Which leads them to where they are now. Let's hope it doesn't end up with a Nirvana/In Utero situation where the label are convinced they're going to be delivered an "unlistenable" record and start to screw around with it...
And hey, if they do get dropped, they can just go slinking back to their old label, who they're still on good terms with. Assuming they have more than a handful of fans left. ![]() |

Hey, sounds like they recognised a mistake though. Most people just keep going...
The question, of course, is what happens as a result... Back to the Extreme comparison, by the time they got away from the major label's ideas, they were so stimatised by the whole "hair metal" thing that they couldn't get a break on anything... I dunno. IIRC, I actually liked their earlier stuff, but antenna's been the only one available in stores around here, so it's the only one I really remember. Kinda like Lacuna Coil. The only record I could find was Comalies, and only at (ironically) Wal-Mart. |

I'm surprised their older stuff isn't around somewhere near you, their previous label was local-ish (well, Boston anyway). Although they've since relocated to LA.
And I'm not surprised about the Extreme thing, hair metal is hardly something I'd want to be associated with. ![]() |

Me neither.
![]() Yeah, I've never actually heard of their previous label. Keep in mind there are a ton of Boston-Based labels, and just as many that have migrated to the west coast. |
