It says a lot when you have two icons like HBK and Hogan working together, yet it takes the constant Bret Hart name dropping and possible comeback to properly sell your program and to get the amount of buys SS got.

HBK must be wondering when he'll get the same kinda pop Bret got, for not having been on wwe tv for the past decade.

lol Zen, come on. They HAD to acknowledge it sooner or later seeing as how every time HBK walked out in Canada he was almost booed out of the building anyway due to fans not being able to let things go. They figured that if HBK was going to get heat, he might as well deserve it. It had nothing to do with Bret, it had everything to do with just getting the fans pissed off. They would've exploited any issue that garnered that much heat.

I can see how in black and white it may seem that the fans only have montreal on their minds but I will also say that the wwe are the ones who keep bringing it up. The fans are over it but then they are manipulated to react. If they were not over it WWE shows would be boycotted in montreal.

When shawn michaels appeared in montreal with HHH he got a good pop. If the fans were not over it someone from montreal would have jumped the barriers to bitch slap shawn a few times.

No, I've already addressed this. The WWE has been forced to address this due to the reactions of the fans, not the other way around. When Hebner was still active, he was heckled with the same chants. The last time WWE was in Canada, HBK got a similar reaction. Why would WWE NOT address this if it's being forced into their lap every time they visit Canada?

For the same reason Vince usually doesn't pay any attention to his audience? hence the at times awful programming and force feeding of stars that the fans scoff at.

Multiple thousands of people chanting passionately and as loudly as they can "You Screwed Bret" for entire HBK segments is hardly ignorable. And why ignore it, if Canadian fans are going to deliver a hot heat getting issue into the laps of WWE, why would they not capitalize on it? The fans are just as responsible fore keeping Montreal alive as the WWE is. Saying that Canada is over it is pretty laughable.

Canada is over it in the sense that they dont bring it up unless HBK is heel or the WWE decides to open up that old wound.

You also have to acknowledge the uniqueness of the situation - Bret Hart represented an entire country. People in canada identify with him so when the WWE does something to Bret they take it as a personal attack. Its not about the screwjob, its about insulting the fans.

There are many angles and psychologies to this situation. Bret Hart is not a wrestler anymore, the fans have moved on but they are pulled back by shawn and/or WWE.

Also its so shameful that Bret Hart out pops most of the current Roster.

Of course you don't provide any examples but I'll bite. Suppose they did? I know one instance in which they did which was WWE Confidential: a documentary based program on popular issues in wrestling. Montreal was definitely significant issue in wrestling so of course the common sense thing to do would be to cover it.

Also, do you think them bringing it up at all after the initial event had anything to do with Bret Hart cuttting down WWE programming in interviews and in Nitro promos? Or Bret constantly bringing it up in anyway he possibly could in any way shape or form? When Owen died he said something along the lines of "Everyone knows that I don't have the greatest relationship with the WWF or Vince, but this was an accident blah blah blah". Was it neccesary to bring up himself when talking about his brothers death? No, it wasn't but he was so bitter and selfish about it all that he felt he needed to do it. Couldn't it be argued that anything the WWE did in regards to the incident was simply a reaction to a man that was living in the past and refused to let things go?

Bret's statement that he doesn't have the greatest relationship with wwe was intended to give even more credence to the fact that he believes it was an accident. If Bret and the Canadian fans were not over montreal Owen's death with have ignited them in such a way that the WWE would be afraid to go to canada ever after that

Bret could have used Owens death as an excuse to completely bury the WWE, he didnt , he reacted in best way we could have execpted from anybody. He says in his book "if the police cleared vince of any wrong doing, then I could to"

Bret Hart only speaks about Montreal when it is brought up by other people. It is like the Kennedy Assassination of wrestling and continues to be the single most hotly debated topic in the history of wrestling.

Montreal is not the most controversial wrestling topic of all time by any stretch. Certainly retains a lot of passionate emotions even to this day, though. Can't believe it was nearly 12 years ago. I feel so old.

Montreal-esque screwjobs are rife throughout the history of the business. The only reason this one was so shocking was because people had assumed that, being the biggest wrestling outfit in the world, WWF had left those old rasslin' ways behind. It only retains its legendary mythos because it was such a high profile case. Screwjobs just as bad have been largely forgotten. It's a question of scale.
