Yeah, Howard making the team is pretty iffy considering how many first basemen were already on the roster. I don't think he makes it if he's not from St. Louis and his manager wasn't picking teams. Dunn should've made it for the sole purpose of competing in the Home Run Derby. Same goes for Russell Branyan.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with injury replacements. Usually more than one guy from the final ballot ends up getting in anyway due to injuries. The NL starting outfield alone may need 2 replacements, and at least 1.

Still trying to figure out how Jason Marquis got named to the game, too. He has 10 wins, but that's the only impressive number he has right now. He's literally not striking anyone out and is far from dominant. I realize that Charlie Manuel said he was putting an emphasis on pitchers who would be able to pitch in the game, but the fact that he made the team over a guy like Yovani Gallardo or Johnny Cueto is ridiculous.

Why do you hate K-Rod so much? He's only blown three saves - and of those, one was Castillo's fault and another the Mets ended up winning and he "closed" it out the next inning unofficially. Pujols and Prince Fielder have both been saying they're in for weeks, too. Should be a blast compared to years past, especially considering the new Busch Stadium is a lot more hitter-friendly than some other parks in recent history (San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Detroit, etc).

I really hope they allow non All Stars in the derby because guys like Adam Dunn, Russel Branyan, Mark Reynolds, and Carlos Pena (if he doesn't get in) could really put on a show.

that said, I think that Kemp and Victorino will both make it regardless with the injuries to Beltran/Ibanez. so you guys should Vote Mark Reynolds in Final Vote.

And that one time he was in the middle of blowing a save with the Angels and threw a bad pitch or something and swatted at the ball with his glove when the catcher threw it back and ended up allowing the winning run from 3rd to score. Hate him so much. And those stupid goggles he used to wear. Just one of those players I can't stand.

Pretty telling from a fanbase perspective. Seeing how high it got in 2006 makes me nostalgic...feels more and more like that was the Mets' year to win.
