WrestleMania -- 970,000 buys
Backlash -- 185,000

i was a little surprised by ufc 100 tbh. i figured they would pull out a fight everyone really wanted to see like tito vs chuck back in the day or bj penn and gsp. there must have been bigger matches to throw in than the ones that actually happened. i think they fucked themselves a bit on that front.

Kinda on a similar topic, I read today that UFC Undisputed has sold more than 3 million copies world wide.. It's been the biggest video game of the summer.. That is pretty impressive specially since it's only on two of the top three systems (supposed to be out for Wii soon)..

That still wayyyyyy better than TNA ppvs such as Slammiversary that drew only 7000.

This just proves UFC/MMA took away wrestling ppv money. HBO Boxing is still doing great numbers so they haven't been affected at all by MMA. If anything MMA help Boxing by giving them ideas such as 24/7 which has turn out to be gold for HBO boxing.

Pro wrestling looks lame compare to UFC,plain and simple. UFC is the new Pro Wrestling to quote Heyman and Cornette. Time to accept that.

De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao was the biggest ppv of 2008 with 1.2 million domestic.

Mayweather vs. Hatton did 925,000 in the states(some places say 850,000)

Hatton vs. Pacquiao did an estimate 850,000 buys in the states.

Those are not small numbers and are products of hbo 24/7.

Let's not even take into account ppv revenues which boxing always manage to shine the most at.

I bet Mayweather vs. Marquez crush UFC when they go head to head. HBO Boxing is doing pretty good without a superstar heavyweight.

But overall, MMA and Boxing are doing great numbers while pro wrestling suffers.

Not sure if MMA would get credit or influence for the 24/7 idea when other leagues and tv sports stations have had the 24/7 idea months to years before UFC or MMA had their own 24/7 channel. I think WWE 24/7 might be older and could have influenced MMA to have a 24/7 in the long run.

pro wrestling is on an out unless mcmahon and co do something. this whole, play to the young demographic and hope it works, thing is NOT working. they need to find a way to compete with MMA. If they don't... pro wrestling as a mainstream product will cease to exist.
