It's an image issue.

Going back to Kalyx's comparison, Andre The Giant wrestling in an a new match type that wasn't created during the time he was alive is fine. Andre The Giant wearing pink blouses, a rainbow afro, and performing the People's Elbow as his special move while in these matches is not.

Kurt Cobain playing modern hits with other created band members or legends is fine. Kurt Cobain playing right handed and wiggitywiggity rapping is not.

Of course, in a couple of games, you can change his moveset and entrance...Sounds like Kalyx's point may have more depth than you would argue.

I'm confused as to where the line is, honestly. Like, okay, him scratching is bad. What if I have him as the vocalist for some whiny emo son...Bad example. What if I have him as my vocalist when I play "Old Time Rock 'n'Roll?" Can he do the slide? Is it okay if he sings "I'm only happy when it rains?" Scratching is wrong, but mincing and prancing and singing like a girl is okay? Perhaps there are other genres and acts that should be off limits.

They don't slide in on Old Time Rock N Roll on GH 5. Only on World Tour.

Yeah, that's another situation to get into. "Why is scratching comsidered bad? Is rap not music? etc."

And yeah, "re-locking" so he doesn't prance like a girl does make sense. Again, it falls on the developers to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen. If they made it so that each legend performs their signature style during each song then I don't think we'd have this problem.

Also, I think everyone is complaining about Cobain because it hits closer to home for them. Mostly 20somethings and younger are playing this game and were probably affected by grunge movement. Hence all the backlash.

Doesn't mean Cash and Santana should be overlooked though.

Who else is unlockable? I know the Garbage/Terminator chick is.

Oh no, I get that much. I think you'd have to be daft not to at least understand why some people are upset, even if you don't agree. But it doesn't really tarnish his image at all, imo. It's not like he ok'd all this and sold out. He's dead. He had no say in the matter. Ya know?
