Question
I don't play video games too much, but I really like the "shooting style" of GTAIV, where you can lock on a target with one remote trigger and shoot with the other (at least on the 360). Are there any other games with a similar style in shooting?

I could just say learn to manually aim and your options increase ten-fold.

Yeah. He has guns and auto-lock.

I won't ask that you play games with manual aiming - maybe you do or don't, I don't know. But there are games with locking on if you don't care for aiming yourself. The next Splinter Cell has auto-lock for cool shooting mechanics. WET has a sort of auto-aim during acrobatic moves.

Most games with lock-on aiming are single player.

GTAIV is the only shooting type game I have, so I kinda have no idea what you're talking about.

Well there's shooting games where you direct the reticule (or target) manually with the right stick (with optional levels of sensitivity), and there's games with a lock-on mechanism where you are locked on an enemy and all you have to do is strafe and shoot.

Call of Duty, Gears of War and Halo all have free aim

What you normally do, is pressed the left trigger to shoulder (aim the gun) you will have a targeting reticle in the center of the screen, you then usually use the right stick to move your character to make your aim more precise (in my case, peoples skulls )

Free aim is much more exciting because you need skill and practice to be able to aim and avoid being hit, then aiming again when you lose sight of the enemy.

See that's what I like about GTAIV. You can just lock on to a guy and blow his brains out. I'm not a hardcore gamer, as I don't have the patience to play a game for hours. GTAIV is the only GTA game I have ever completely beat.

I can't 100% remember if it has the lockon aiming or not but Crackdown reminds me a lot of GTA and I think it does allow you to autoaim. It's a fun game too.

I believe Crackdown does have an auto lock-on, but I've already moved on as I've already beaten it. Crackdown 2 is looking like it should be great fun also.

Yeah, I bought it and played like 5 minutes of it, but my brother went through the entire thing last spring and what I saw of him playing looked fun, so I may have to go through it myself and beat it. Of course I've said the same thing about Left 4 Dead and Gears of War although I did get like 25% of the way through those.

I need to finish some of these things so I can get rid of the ones I'll never play again like L4D.
