I beat FF13 about 10 days ago. Really pissed that the true power of the crew isn't realized til AFTER you defeat orphan, which was a little too easy. But the ending was a bit...different. I may have to run through the last level again to get a better understanding of the ending.

Yeah, after watching my friend play it....on 3 separate days.... I'll be skipping out on this. It seems boring and bleak. And normally bleak atmospheres are a good thing but running around in narrow places fighting the same creatures with that lame battle system... meh.

Ugh this game. Had Raines almost staggered and dead 5 times and each time he charges me and kills me. So stupid if the character you're controlling dies its game over.

Only bosses that were really challenging were 3 or 4 Cie'th stone missions that I haven't beaten yet. Spent like 432389 hours leveling up in the cavern on Gran Pulse then got fed up and went to "progress the story" so I could get a crystarium expansion and beat the fuckers like the Neochu and Gigantuar, but the crystarium does not expand until you beat the game, what the fuck is that.

Finally did beat the dude, kept getting extreme unlucky and he'd charge lighting before I could rebuff from his aoe dispell, so I wasn't getting any damage reduction from protect.

I like the Pulse stuff so far, at least it gives "some" freedom like older Final Fantasy's do.

So how important is upgrading weapons/accessories? And should I bother learning new roles or focus on leveling up the ones they have?

they all have core roles they are good at. For the sake of keeping it simple, keep your team to Lightning, Fang, and a medic/synergist. Characters are better at other roles than others, like the emo kid and Vanille tend to be good medic/syndergists, while Fang and one dude are good tanks/commandos.

The secondary roles get ridiculously expensive, they are definitely not worth leveling up if you're trying to beat the game fast. You can't even get them past level 2 or 3 until after you beat the game, and ultimately they have less nodes overall than the core roles. Regardless, it takes around 2.5 million CP to master any one role.

Upgrading weapons can be a pretty good idea, I have Lightning's Omega Weapon right now and it's like strength+600 so not bad. I found it better to just level up one weapon like crazy and then when you're done with it/can't upgrade it anymore you move to the next one. Also a good tip is if you feed one weapon 36 "vials" of Vibrant Ooze you will get bonus X 3 on that weapon, probably the most efficient way to do so. Then just give it whatever amount of items will give it the most EXP before it goes down to bonus X 1.

It isn't that hard. I did like 55 of the Cieth missions before continuing the game and I was super overpowered for the final boss.

Final Fantasy 13
Didn't find a thread for this game, so posting one myself.

What did you guys think about Final Fantasy 13? So far it seems like the lowest rated FF game of all time. Even as a huge Final Fantasy fan, having played through nearly every single FF game, I skipped on the game at launch and waited to get it when it dropped to $19.99.

I am seriously surprised at the game so far. Does not feel like a Final Fantasy game at all, might as well have been some generic low budget JRPG. The storyline is terrible and the combat system seems to be a step back. I welcome companies trying to change things and refresh old concepts, but the changes in the combat system in 13 are a serious step back, with pretty much having the game play itself for you.

I haven't gotten very far in so far, so I hope it gets better, but I really doubt it.
What did you guys think of Final Fantasy 13?

I thought it was okay, although not very memorable. It was pretty easy though and it was lacking the freedom of other FF games as well. The story was alright though.
