Installing older games on Windows 7
Ok, so I got this nifty HP All in One with Windows 7 on it today. It's got a nice ATI Radeon chip and HD. I tried to install a few games, of which only one actually works.
Black & White 2 came out 5 years ago and works like a charm, whereas Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 doesn't. It installs then puts a shortcut to the .exe file, but that file isn't in the folder. Is it possible that some security thing in 7 prevented the .exe from installing? This is the first experience I've had with windows 7 and any help would be awesome. Thanks guys. |

If it's a security problem, Windows 7 should tell you about it.
So I'm guessing when you try to run the game you get the "Cannot find the file specified" or whatever message? |

It's a bitch to install on Windows 7 x64 and even then, if your park gets too big, it will crash.

I think it's Windows 7 x86 that I'm using. Everything installs to the Program Files(x86) folder. |

Well, almost everything should install to the x86 folder since very few programs are actually coded for 64 bit.

So, I tried using my external USB DVD writer to install RCT and it installed perfectly. I'm still not sure what the issue is with the built in drive. It does everything else the way it's supposed to. I guess it just didn't like that disc.
Thanks for the help, folks. |

I have been this problem and figured out old games really didn't work on win7 but there's a catch don't install it first go to set up folder and right click properties and select compatibility mood to either xp service pack 2 or 3 and then install game even after install same step after these steps you should be able to run it.
