How long will it last? (Raw spoilers)
Okay, so another week has come and gone in the NXT storyline...I have to say, I'm still very interested in it. They wrote off AmDrag in a general way (which makes it quite clear he's really been fired since he apparently "had remorse" and yet on WWE.com he was somehow was released from a non-existent contract) - but they left the door wide open for his return, so that can only be a good thing.
Last week, many here (myself included) felt that this could be a huge angle that could last all the way til Survivor Series or something. After last night though, I'm not so sure anymore. WWE have already gotten their hands on NXT and chased them out of the building...it felt WAY too soon to do that, something that should have been saved after a few weeks/a month of constant NXT chaos and disruption. Granted, they got their revenge later - but now NXT feels pretty limited in what they can do since the Raw roster outnumbers them by so much. They can attack backstage, in the parking lot, etc. Hell they can even attack in the ring, but they have to have a quick escape plan because it's now implied that the Raw roster will rush out to the defense every time an attack happens. If they didn't, it would look pretty stupid and like the WWE ring is no longer considered sacred or whatever. This feels like the type of storyline that will definitely end at a BIG PPV, so either Summerslam or Survivor Series. But if they want to keep it going PAST Summerslam, I think the group is going to need more members at some point. You can't carry out an Invasion-type storyline with just 7 guys for that long of a time. They'd either have to recruit NXT2, or even FCW guys or future-endeavored WWE guys...all of whom feel "disrespected by WWE management". Just wondering what everybody thinks. ![]() |

I don't really see it lasting past SummerSlam. My guess is that it will end a bit after that, half the NXTers will go back to FCW and the other half will be integrated into the main roster across the two brands.

I also felt put off by the Raw roster standing united against them for the reasons stated above.
I think after the pros attacked the NXT2 guys last week, the best thing to do would be to have all the NXT guys working together. |

Yeah, there are two ways I can see this shaking out...both of them involve the NXT Pros continuing to attack, lecture, etc. the NXT2 guys as if to warn them to not do anything.
The NXT1 guys could all have their contracts by Summerslam (around when NXT2 ends) - so either the NXT2 guys could join NXT1, agreeing with everything NXT1 said...or it would go from WWE vs. NXT1 to a smaller scale NXT1 vs. NXT2 (with NXT2 saying its NXT1's fault that they were treated poorly) |

The "faces" rarely stand united against the "heels" for long. In this case, they won't clear the locker room out each week for NXT. I don't think this is the demise it's about to be made out to be. And this is why realistic expectations pay off.

I pretty much see that happening too. I see Wade, Skippy and Justin Gabriel becoming part of the main roster. Time will tell for Heath, Young, Tarver. Otunga might use "star quality" for awhile, he could be the next Miz if he keeps getting better in the ring.

Oh yeah, and another possibility - I could see all of the NXT1 guys thrown into a MITB for a contract at the MITB PPV.
Hope they don't go that route tho, cause once it's over there's not much else you can do and I do think this can last til at least Summerslam. |

I don't know, they hit a speed bump last night. To me, they took a lot of energy out of the angle from the week before. I would of slow built it with random attacks happening for the next couple weeks. I also would of shown backstage stuff or even in ring stuff f Cena pleading to the heels and babyfaces to work together against them. This way you build to the inevitable face off between the WWE and NXT on Raw. So I would of done last night's episode a month from now, which is what you were saying Vito
So instead we get the brawl last night and NXT literally being run out of the building. The ending last night was pretty good, although I couldn't stop laughing at the bit. I think this thing will end sooner then later though. If not by Summerslam, then definately Survivor Series. I guess ending it at Survivor Series wouldn't be too bad of a run considering the kind of era we're in right now |

THIS... and for the record I think they'll keep Barrett, unfortunately Otunga, Opie Taylor & the South African... The others will go back to FCW...

I thought they did a great job last night on all accounts. The opening segment was great. Barrett was a star, and he actually got Bret Hart fired up for the first time since his return. Plus Bret dropped the epic F bomb (WWF). Has that even been done ever? I don't remember.
The Cena fight with the whole roster wasn't spectacular like last weeks end segment, but it was different and it looked really cool. And they got their revenge with the brutal attack on Hart, which was very WWE and all but effective none the less and got their steam back. I still give WWE two thumbs up for last nights handling of NXT s1. |

I just wanted to dig more into the Bret Hart thing.
Last night Barrett was real, he was awesome, and he came off like a pro with main event qualities. His mic work is up there with all of WWE's best at the moment. And what was really great was how he got Bret so fired up. It was almost like a time machine, Bret started getting emotional like in the 90's and messed up his lines but kept truckin. Eventually Bret was so passionate and heated, in a way that we haven't seen since Survivor Series 97 probably. I was really proud and happy for Bret.. It makes me think that this COULD culminate with a Barrett vs Bret Hart match at Summerslam. I think Bret is slowly getting back into the swing of things and I wouldn't be too surprised if by Summerslam he actually wants to work a match. I think that the more he is around the boys, the more envious he will get and he'll want to be in the ring. |

There is no way that anyone could possibly make Bret Hart look good in the ring in the shape he's in today... As much as most of us would love to see it, the days of the Hitman up to par in the ring are OVER...
Poor guy can't even say WWE... He still sayin' WWF... Some of you did see WM a few months back right? |

I understand why they only wanted this feud to be on RAW since its meant to be one of those "anything can happen" moments that would lose some impact from reading spoilers but I think WWE panicked a bit too much with last night's RAW.
They should have kept the NXT guys staying with the whole "NwO"/invasion style without using the lockeroom this early to unite in a beatdown or had Bret "fire" them from RAW. Worst was making the whole incident being about Cena when Barrett said a few times it was for different reasons they attacked. |

Liked how they wrote out Danielsson and was almost disappointed when they were run outta the building but the ending made it evident that it's far from over.

They definitely should have not had the whole NxT group in one place at one time yet. Have Barrett be the mouthpiece for a few weeks with a couple guys attacking here and there. This would keep the group's momentum growing.
And best of all, they wouldn't even have to mention Daniel Bryan at all. The "is it a work" doubt in people's minds would keep them tuning in week after week to see if DB shows or not. I've heard that getting ratings is a good thing. |

I didn't watch RAW, but the recap makes it sound like Wade Barrett is going to bully Bret Hart into giving them contracts, and he wants an answer at Fatal Four Way? My guess is that Bret hires them, because there are enough people that want to kick their asses. I still would not be surprised to see Wade Barrett win the WWE Title as early as Fatal Four Way. He's got his PPV title shot, and him cashing it in on John Cena ala MITB would be a massive heat-booster for him and the group.
Bullying Bret Hart should also give The Network problems with The Hart Dynasty. Apparently The Uso Brothers are nowhere near ready to be on the RAW roster, so after David Hart Smith & Tyson Kidd dispatch of them, you can move them into a program with two guys from The Network, who are trying to take the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship. Wade Barrett won't need the Tag Titles, nor will Skip Sheffield. David Otunga is just not ready yet. So a combination out of Heath Slater, Darren Young, Michael Tarver & Justin Gabriel would be my pick. Probably Heath Slater & Darren Young. Justin Gabriel can then win the US Title, and The Network can hold all the pieces on RAW. I think the idea is to get as many of these guys over as stars as possible. I think the WWE wanted every single one of them to be featured on the main rosters right from the get-go, but then booked NXT by wing and realised that by doing this they can make eight somewhat main event talents overnight. All seven remaining NXT guys will end up on RAW, I feel. I'm still hoping that William Regal reveals to be a manager for them. |

I really don't like that, simply because it makes winning NXT totally meaningless other than establishing him as the leader. My hope is that Bret denies them contracts again, so then Barrett looks into it and finds that his title match and contract are GUARANTEED and legally-binding, maybe for a period of time (year?). As such he can sorta be like Test after he won the Immunity Battle Royal. He can just be a dick and nobody can do anything about it, and so he can freely continue to try and get the other guys hired. |

Well, in a kayfabe-sense they may be fired, but I think that's just part of the ups and downs of the storyline. I mean, I assume that Wade Barrett said "We want an answer by Sunday" assuming that something will go down at the PPV regarding their WWE status. My bet is that Bret does re-hire them, and they wreak havoc.

I think Edge being 'The ultimate opportunist' will take a title steal from fatal 4way because of outside interference from the NXT1 guys.

When it was first announced, I could have very easily seen Edge taking the title. It would still work.

I'm guessing the idea is that Bret books them in that match with the hopes of them turning on each other. They'd almost have to, right? I mean how else do you build up to a 7-man match when all of them are a heel stable. The group would almost certainly implode, which would feel a bit early. Guys like Justin Gabriel would likely go face again. Unless they build up the "reluctance" aspect of it the whole way through, and then at the last second Danielson gets added (as someone suggested in the other thread) to give the fans someone to root for. |

I hope it doesnt last too long. It's absolutely ridiculous to have these guys in a major storyline none of them have done shit except for Wade Barret who won

I'm not so sure there was really any "doom and gloom", just a curiosity about how long the storyline will last.
I still think it may have been a bit early last week for the locker room to unify to ward off Nexus...but otherwise I'm really liking the progression. They refuse to apologize one week...then get their contracts and apologize, and then they wreak more havoc after that as if to say "lol just kidding". The mystery GM also throws a very interesting wrinkle into the mix. Unless they go the rumored route of Mike Adamle (who I just cannot fathom being responsible for a heel stable), I kinda think the mystery GM will wind up being responsible for Nexus continuing to fuck shit up. |

Not really sure how what I said constitutes "gloom and doom", but whatever.
Wondering when a storyline will end =/= "the storyline is fucked!" |
