2001 WCW/ECW Alliance

I was watching RAW and also thinking about the possible ECW invasion in TNA.

I was curious on how you guys felt about it-

Such as,

if you were loyal to WWF, did it bother you having the "competition" on your show?

if you were a loyal WCW fan, how weird was it watching your guys with the scratch wwf logo on the bottom left corner?

if you were a loyal ECW fan, were you sad your promotion was closed, or just happy to see then back on TV and in front of huge crowds?

For me, it was like interleague play in baseball. A real cool concept and brought forth lots of cool fueds, such as Rock and Booker T. I was a loyal WWF fan, that like many of you switched channels. I missed doing it, but it was cool seeing guys from 3 shows on one.

Did any of you strictly watch WCW and only switch to WWF for the invasion?

i strictly watched wcw when i first became a fan, occasionally catching raw or ecw shows, until about late '99, when it began turning to complete shit. I remember being hyped for the whole invasion thing, until they had wcw vs wwf matches on every show, completely killing the ppv

The only thing that upset me about the invasion storyline was that it was all about the McMahons. Yes, there was stupid stuff like Austin and Angle joining the Alliance and DDP jobbing to Sara Calloway but seeing more of McMahons vs. McMahons just killed it for me.

It's a shame Triple H and Chris Benoit were injured, they would've played a huge part in the storyline, considering their pasts in WCW and Benoit's past in ECW.

would have been awesome if they got goldberg or hogan to go along with it, instead it was mainly run by wcw midcarders/upper midcarders

Yeah, if you think about the guys that came in after the invasion angle was said and done...

Hogan
Nash
Hall
Bischoff
Goldberg
Flair
Mysterio (to an extent)

That would have been legit WCW vs WWF (although we'd have probably ended up with WWF v WCW v ECW v nWo in a clusterfuck of an invasion).

they should of brought in these people for the wcw/ECW besides DDP, Raven, Rhino, Booker T, Dudleys and others
Sting
Scott Steiner
Goldberg
Nwo - Hogan , Hall and nash
Jeff Jarrett
Ric Flair
Bam Bam Bigelow
Sabu
Sandman

something that would of been a great addition to the alliance would've been Bret Hart
if Goldberg hadn't ended bret's career.

They could have just used who they had.

RVD, DDP, Booker, build up Rhyno and someone else.

I wish ECW could have been a 3rd party instead of immediately merging with WCW. You could have face WWF, heel WCW, and tweener ECW.

When I re-watched the initial NXT attack on the Viewer's Choice Raw, I felt that it was the biggest markout I'd had since ECW reformed and joined the Invasion. In fact, the way they did the NXT thing would have been an amazing way to establish ECW as a neutral 3rd group. You have Rhyno, Tazz, the Dudleyz, Raven, Justin Credible, Lance Storm, and Mike Awesome just randomly come in from the crowd during a big Austin/Booker T match or something and take out both guys, showing no allegiance to either side. They destroy everybody at ringside (except Heyman, who plays dumb on commentary yet happens to get away), destroy the ring, all of that jazz.

You can hold off the debuts of Dreamer and RVD until later on to make them seem even more important. And, after a couple weeks of sneak attacks, Heyman cuts his promo revealing himself to be the mastermind.

Sigh...if only.
