Wrestling Factoids

Below are some random wrestling facts. I know a lot of you guys probably already know about them, so be warned, but check them out, post your comments, and add to the list.

Back in the 1980's, Hulk Hogan's opponents were banned from mentioning his receding hair-line in interviews.

Triple H's first nationally televised wrestling match was on WCW Saturday Night. It was his try-out match with WCW, and he wasn't even aware it would be shown until he saw it on TV.

Triple H wrestled one pay-per-view match in WCW, at Starrcade '94. It was a match between him and Alex Wright, and Triple H lost.

According to Triple H, Owen Hart would have eventually been called "The Game". A few months after Owen's death, Triple H actually got the gimmick nickname instead.

Kevin Nash was offered the part of Sabertooth in X-Men back in the year 2000 but had to decline due to scheduling conflicts.

Remember when Mick Foley was making his World Wrestling Federation debut as Mankind and was often seen in vignettes holding a live sewer rat? In real life, the rat was actually owned as a pet by legendary wrestling manager, James E. Cornette.

Ric Flair once won and lost 12 thousand dollars in one night.. playing just 3 hands of Black Jack.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a survivor of kidney cancer.

Steve Austin played in the school band in high school, and was also part of the National Honor Society. He dropped out of college. In his spare time he collects antiques.

While Randy Orton was training to become a pro wrestler, he refereed a few matches for World Organized Wrestling, a promotion where his uncle, former WWE jobber Barry O, worked. (Who here remembers Barry O?)

In July 2009, Randy Orton revealed he read for the lead role in the film The Marine 2. Orton was given the part, but after injuring his collarbone, the film's producers decided to go with Ted DiBiase.

John Cena graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, MA with a degree in exercise physiology. After that, he pursued a career in body building, and also worked as a chauffeur for a limousine company before entering the world of pro wrestling.

Volare chooses to use papers compared to blunts. Blunts are a waste of weed and joints are far more inexpensive.

I had heard most of that except for the Nash/X-men thing... Could've been huge for him... And THIS...

Back in the 1980's, Hulk Hogan's opponents were banned from mentioning his receding hair-line in interviews.

THAT IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS! How stupid is that?

With the kind of pull he probably had with Vince and company, if Hulk demanded that, and everybody complied probably not very. Besides, who are we to question a Real American?

Kevin Nash was actually "Super Shredder" in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. And I remember Barry O, barely but I remember.

Before WCW signed Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair was scheduled to feud with Steve Austin over the WCW World Heavyweight title.
