Wrestling or Sports Entertainment.

This should be an interesting poll to see where everyone is at these days.

Anyway, are you more of a fan of the "wrestling" side of wrestling who can just sit back and watch a whole show that features no interviews, no characters, or no "sports entertainment" type of stuff. Just good old wrestling for 2 hours.

Or are you more of a fan of the "sports entertainment" side of wrestling who enjoys the storylines, the characters, the gimmicks, the interviews etc... more then watching a good old 40 minute wrestling match.

You have to pick one.

I get what you're asking, but in some ways, its tough to answer. See I love wrestling, but I dont think anyone can watch a wrestling show with JUST wrestling for 2 hours. Because if you want that, you should be watching Olympic style wrestling or NCAA tournys. Pro Wrestling by its very nature needs promos, interviews, angles and odd ball characters to work and sell tickets.

I didnt pick anything yet because im still thinking about it. They both have there good points. old Fashioned wrestling is good because its the basics of what made the sport the way it is. But with out the sports entertainment part, it would never of been as popular as it is now. This is a very hard decision.

Yeah, Pro Wrestling definately needs both. But I'm just asking which side appeals more to you?

Both have good and bad qualities if they were put out there alone...

Wrestling Good: Those of us who really look out for the great strength, speed, and acrobatics of these guys get a field day if there were a show out there with only pure wrestling. Also, without the time wasted on ten or twenty minute promos telling you the story of how HHH and HBK don't like each other, we can see great matches between the underestimated performers that are held down to the midcard. It'd seem more like a real sport than a tv show that impersonates a sport. And of course, that would lead to more marks out there memorizing wrestler stats etc., which I think could be considered a bonus to the company.

Wrestling Bad: Without story lines we never get to see the great feuds. There's never a buildup to a huge PPV matchup between two guys who you've been itching to get together. Instead, we get random matchups each night which could get to be pretty stale after a while. And with all of these wrestlers working night after night in 20 minute long matches or longer, there's bound to be more injuries. And one might be tempted to think that there wouldn't be any difference between any of the names out there without any gimmicks, but I don't think that would be true, considering I'm a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and they're no different from any other baseball team...just a hometown thing is all. So that one kinda goes under the neutral category.

Sports entertainment Good: This is what made wrestling what it is today. It's what made wrestling what it was in 2000 at its peak. There comedy, drama, horror, and everything else to entertain us. It throws a bit of variety in there to make us want to see what happens week in and week out.

Sports entertainment Bad: Goldberg...nuff said. There comes a point where you get a guy who is so hyped up because he's big and has a nasty spear that the fans can't choke any more of that crap down. How many times do we have to see someone urinating some greenish substance on somebody else's leg? Pure crap.

What the hell's the point of a wrestling show without wrestling? That's what they're trained to do. That's their art, their craft. McMahon and Russo be damned, give me wrestling any day over sports-entertainment.

Thank you. The storyline should be used to build up to the wrestling match, not the opposite. Something that's been tragically forgotten in the past few years.

difficult to decide the sports entertainment side of things gave us dx, stonecold steve austin, the undertaker, the nWo etc and just made the business as big as it is but you can't really beat a solid wrestling match between two technical experts such as angle and benoit so I really don't know

I think it's like a mixture for me someways i feel more like a wrestling guy. I mean I love all the interviews, skits, gimmick matches and all that. If not for that I don't think it would have gotten as far as it did.

I'm going with sports entertainment because the gimmicks, storylines, and promos are the pillars that hold the foundation up, which is the actual wrestling.

I believe it needs both ( although there is way to much entertainment in the mix right now.) If I had to choose one though, I'd say straight wrestling.
