Bigger Wrestling Shock: Cena losing and joing the Nexus or Taker having his streak snapped?
We saw the live reactions and subsequent youtube clips of reactions related to Cena losing to Barrett and I'm curious if you guys think Taker losing at a Mania could garner similar reactions.

I didn't find Cena losing a shock. In the build up to a Mania where Taker may potentially lose, the internet would probably make it so that I'd be more shocked/happy if he won.

I would have to say Taker losing his WrestleMania streak would be a bigger shocker.

It would be a bigger shock- but the reaction wouldn't be the same as when Cena joined Nexus.
Literally, our jaws and hearts would drop if he lost at Mania, but like a poster a few spots above said, it made the kiddies cry when Cena lost. I think that Taker is really for the older fans nostalgia. It wouldn't matter too much to a kid if Taker lost at Mania... especially if it was to John Cena |

The reaction in the audience will be bigger for Cena, because of how many kids/parents are watching.
By the average teenages/20 year old watching on PPV at home, Undertaker's streak will be bigger. Overall, Cena will win because no one is going to cry over the Undertaker losing his streak. |

Overall it would be the streak being broken but just like Jeff Hardy's loss and CM Punk fooling the crowd, the younger audience would be more shocked at Cena loosing since that is the WWE's target audience last few years.
Breaking the streak should be one of those moments in wrestling that would be used to push a new star and be a critical event similar to Austin debut of 3:16 and Hogan joining the NwO. |

To tweak it alittle - Cena fully turning heel would be the bigger shock.

I would be way more shocked if Undertaker's streak got broken. I actually don't want it to get broken, ever.
I wasn't shocked at all at Cena losing to Barrett. Infact, I was actually very happy. |

i was shocked and "i knew it" when Cena joined Nexus...I'd be more shocked if he actually turned heel though. |

To be honest I think Undertaker losing at Wrestlemania could have the potential to be the most shocking thing in wrestling, short of killing your family and committing suicide.
Of course, as others have said, this mostly applies to older fans who appreciate the streak, and not the little kiddies who have no fucking clue. But really, we all know WWE are gonna keep the streak alive anyway, so if 'taker were to lose at WM27, it'd be probably the most shocked I've ever been. |

ALso, off topic, but I totally think Barrett is the right guy to end the streak. Since it seems obvious 'taker is going to 20, him losing at 19 would be a huge shock, and Barrett definitely has the tools - ring ability, mic skills, look, presence etc - to pull it off and not fuck up the inevitable push that would follow. Plus with the Nexus getting involved, it would make perfect sense kayfabe-wise that Barrett could get the win.

Now that Taker has credible opponents again, I've always been hyped about his streak matches. Back in WM 22 when he went against Mark Henry in the casket match, it's like "Yeah, we REALLY believe Henry is going to end Taker's streak."

Smart money was on Cena losing but i guess to kids he is unbeatable. Like other posters have said, kids wouldnt really get the significance of the streak ending, older fans/IWC would probably have the reactions the Cena fans had though.

Taker losing at Wrestlemania would probably trump Hogan joining the NWO at Bash At The Beach.
If you can get fans throwing things in the ring for as long as Hogan did then you've done the job. |

to the younger fans, cena joining nexus was more shocking.
to us older fans, taker's streak ending would be enough to make a number of us stop watching. and some of us would freak out and cry like little bitches... |
