Great But Forgotten/Unknown Games
Did you ever have a game you thought was great when you played it but no one else seems to have even heard of it?
This is a thread to talk about them, spread the word and show what makes them so good. It can be any system but, ideally, anything previous to the current gen for the sake of reawakening any memories people have about the games. Try not to focus on games like Chrono Trigger or Sonic 3 because everyone knows those games. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I had a game on the PS1 called "Tomba!" in the US or "Tombi!" in the UK. It was a great game. It was a Platformer RPG-like game with fully animated and voiced anime style FMV. It was bright, colourfull and unique. You would do quests like clearing the fog or finding a 1,000 year old man and gain points for doing it. You would upgrade your clothes and weapons to make fighting enemies easier and gain new platforming abilities like dashing or sneaking. The game played with a side scroll view, mostly, but sometimes you had top down sections. I was slightly creeped out, when I was younger, at the "Mushroom Forest" area of the game. There were these giant flowers everywhere with creepy (to a kid) clown faces on them and you had these mushrooms you could find around the area and eat. If you eat a certain type of mushroom, they'd go into hysterics and just start smiling and laughing but if you got the other type of mushroom, they'd look sad and start crying and whining. It was just really creepy to me. I'd really like to play it again but it costs upwards of £60 ($98) for it on eBay (It's £39.99 for a modern day game) with one guy wanting £149 ($240) for it. So it'll be a long time before I ever play it again. Intro: Gameplay: |

Hogs of War on PS1
I just remember renting this like 10 years ago and it being a lot of fun. It was an RTS sort of a cross between Worms and Final Fantasy Tactics. And you played as pigs. |

They should update the graphics, maybe throw in some new content and definitly put in an online mode and put HoW on XBLA/PSN. |

Don't know how unknown this is but I feel like it is fairly underrated. Easily one of the best games for the Gamecube. The story was great as was the gameplay.

Silicon Valley was fun in the small amount of time I played it on the N64. I think that's another game that goes for a high price on eBay.
Eternal Darkness was great to. I've no idea why they haven't made a sequel. One of the Wii U might work (Pretty sure Nintendo are involved in it). |

The Suffering
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The best story for a video game Ive seen. It would even be an outstanding story for a legit horror movie. The creatures are very disturbing and actually tie into the story as to why they are what they are. The story goes through the history of the prison and the island its on and the connection it has to the main character you play as. Also the game has three different endings based on the choices you make in a game and the game also plays a little different if you are taking the psychotic route. ActRaiser! Fantasic.
I played Skool Daze on some Spectrum site. Was cool. Two more games I really liked are Stunt Race FX, my first 3D racer: and Vortex: Vortex had levels where you walked on land too so it wasn't all flying in space. |

![]() Same company who in the future made the Grand Theft Auto series and yet their first console sandbox game ends up being on a Nintendo console of all places. Story has it the reason why a Nintendo console never got any port of a GTA game is due to Rockstar hating how much demands and changes Nintendo wanted instead of leaving them alone. I'd put Psychonauts and Okami under the category of forgotten games when it comes to actually buying them even though both games got rave reviews from critics and gamers. |

Downhill Domination for the PS2 is one of the greatest racing games I've ever played. Spiritual successor to Road Rash with BMX instead of motorcycles and crazy tracks.
By that same token, the original Sled Storm was amazing. |

Two of my favourite examples are already listed:
Also, my first thought usually goes to.... Skies of Arcadia, though I never owned a Dreamcast and instead played the GCN port, SOA Legends. Despite a borderline Mary Sue protagonist and a villain that almost makes Sepiroth look deep by comparison, it's one of the most memorable RPGs I've ever played. And it's unfortunately nearly completely forgotten. |

Using this thread to my advantage FTW
I was trying to remember this old computer game my 4th grade (99-00, I seem to recall the Bush-Gore election happening during that time) teacher let me play. It was obviously a kids game. The concept was to guide these little fuzzy shits through puzzles based on their features (eyes, hair, nose, mouth, etc.) If anyone can put a name to a memory, massive rep. |
