Ring Ropes
Is it just me or does every company EXCEPT the WWF/E use cable ropes? If so why?

Would one be safer than the other?

Cable ropes are readily available and all the accessories that go with it. Regular ropes seem to give way much more than a cable rope so I don't think it would be a good thing to use

WWE does use cables they just wrap them differently, plus they look a little different because they are longer cables in the WWE ring than anyone elses.

I'm not sure sure about that.... whenever anyone takes a trunbuckle off, you can clearly see the exposed rope fibers of the ropes near the connection..... Needless to say, there could be wire inside the ropes

I think it was Lance Storm that said that the ropes are lot more comfortable to run into than the cables.

Everyone said the WWF Mat was always harder but It hurt to run the ropes a lot more in WCW apparently.
I remember whenever arn anderson would rest his crowbar on the top rope? you could tell that rope had no give. |

I believe WWE has always used real ropes, I seem to recall that being listed as a difference between them and WCW. I've also always heard it said that if WCW had used real ropes instead of cables, Mick Foley would still have two whole ears because it was the lack of give in the cables that caught him as he went out.
