Who was the first to be 'Future Endeavored'?
We all know and love 'Future Endeavored', but who was the first person to actually receive it? I know Matt Hardy did back in 2005, but surely others were before that.

The earliest instance of "future endeavors" in the wrestling forum is Juvi's release back in 2006.

Looking on Google (searching "WWE" and "future endeavors" by date), the earliest I can see (and I did minimal searching here, ftr) is Scott Hall's release in 2002.

"World Wrestling Entertainment senior vice president for talent relations Jim Ross announced today that WWE and Scott Hall have mutually agreed to end their contractual relationship. WWE wishes Hall the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Paul Heyman "future endeavored" Tod Gordon in a taped promo back in 1997, maybe 1998 so I'm sure this practice was in place even before then.

Are these real? If so, WWE really went to great lengths to not make the release so "cold"...they were pretty elaborate.

Now it's like "BLAH"...they inform the person has been released and that's it.

I speculate that JR may have had a lot to do with that. It wasn't just that the releases weren't "so cold", but seems to also leave the door open for a return and to not completely bury them as to find work elsewhere. Not only that, but I seem to recall some were folks who asked for their release, not fired. Changing up and sugar-coating the verbage made that a little more ambiguous. Back then, "wishing someone the best in their future endeavors" was a legit well-wish.

After he wasn't in charge of that anymore, the "future endeavor" thing kind of became lazy copypasta for everyone released and makes it sound as though everyone just got straight up fired. Now, it's become sort of dark humour in a realm where perception is reality and HAS come to mean "just got straight up fired", and comes off a bit sarcastic.
