Rock cant come back and win titles because he's a movie star now, and why would he sacrifice millions of dollars for the WWE? The fact that he shows up at all shows he still cares about the WWE fans.

New People's Champ? The French Fenom of course.

The Rock can still draw. And get ratings. Thousands of people turn the channel when they hear The Rock is on. And yeah he is a movie star, but the guy will probably have quite a few more runs. He's in his prime. And he clearly loves the business.

The Rock is great. Granted, I kinda didn't like him when he was a face after awhile.

His current status is great. Showing up periodically and putting guys over.

It's always a treat to see The Rock nowadays.

I have no damn clue what you are talking about. That sentence was just barely coherent English.

Basically, The Rock is still the biggest name in the business and him being on TV even for a few minutes is a guaranteed boost in the rating. His segment with Eugene was the highest rated quarter hour in the last few months, I believe. And fans still love him.

As has been said, he can't win titles, because its pointless to put a title an a guy who's only around at most a few weeks at a time. But he can show up, get someone else over, and still remain credible because he's The Rock damn it!

And in the long run, The Rock's action movie career probably only has 5-6 more years in it. So unless he becomes a serious actor , theres a good chance he'll return to the WWE full-time down the road. He'll be like 33, still in his prime, and still one of the better workers in the company.

Now shut up and stop hatin.'

Oddly enough, I think his chances of becoming a serious actor are quite good. He had a pretty good emotional range, critics love him (even those who hated "Walking Tall" mentioned that Dwayne was one of the few actors who could pul off a tough yet sensitive role), and --- well, there's a pretty bad drought in the action movie department when your closest competitors are Will Smith and Keanu Reeves.

I have a feeling that if Dwayne stays focused, he'd have an easy shot at movies outside the action flick genre.

In a way, I think icon killer might have a point. If Rock left permanently, I think he has a better chance at becoming an A-list star.

Then again, I still enjoy seeing him in the ring, so I'm not complaining, either.

I think he would be a hit as a comedian and actually could see him going that route. But I also realize that the public is fickle (check out what's hapened to Vin Diesel) and there's achance he just kind of does a slow fade. If he does, he's still a young man and would easily still be one of the best workers in the WWE.

So I don't disagee with you, I'm just being cynical, I guess.

It's not real you moron. The only thing that matters in wrestling is whether or not you can draw fans. The Rock could lose 1500 times in a row and fans would still lose their minds if they had a chance to see him. It doesn't hurt him to lose or to have Eugene save him from an ambush, so why not do it? He's only helping their career; its actually good for the business and the right thing to do.

If you as a fan don't like it, fine. but are you honestly telling me you don't enjoy The Rock being on TV even if it is to lose a match? Because if you do, then what the WWE is doing is still working.

Why must I spread Rep around to give it to PureHatred?

As for Rocky losing...you have to lose to win in wrestling. Just look at where HHH is with the fans. No one cares about him and everyone wishes he could just leave and never come back. When the Rock comes back, there's like so much pop you can hear it without the TV. That's why Rocky is that man.

The Rock is still the man and he should come back. At this point in time he is the biggest name in the WWE particularly after losing Lesnar, Hogan and Austin and so I don't think the WWE can afford to lose him and as proven by his segment with Eugene on Raw he can still draw and the people want to see him.

That's like saying Rene Dupree shouldn't be French anymore because when he's French, he loses matchups. It's what Dupree is, and it's actually pretty cool.

Just like the Rock. He's an actor, he isn't much of a wrestler anymore, so why not just use him to put guys over? He makes good movies, why sacrifice potential MILLIONS for a paralyzing injury or a busted knee or broken arm?

Guys like you think that the only thing wrestler can and should do is wrestle. They have a life outside of the ring. Believe me, if I could entertain tens of thousands of fans a night I would. But I wouldn't put my life on the line to do so. Rocky has found a way to entertain those fans, and at the same time maintain his own safety.

By the way, the same could be said for Mick Foley. Where's your "Mcik Foly shudnt cum bakc to teh WWWEz0rz!!1" thread?

Its true that he could come back if his movie career fizzles oiut (which I dont think will happen). He hasn't had any major injuries to speak of, and he's still really young, as we've seen with guys like Hogan and Flair, he could come back in 5 years, and still have a 10 year run.

However, the difference is, if Rock is making movies for 5 years he will have made more money than anyone else in the history of pro wrestling (except Vince), and will have no reason to go back, at least on a regular basis.

I think there is something to be said about the desire wrestlers have to hear that big pop from the fans, and perform in front of a live audience. But in his position say when he's in his mid 30s and and has north of a hundred million dollars in the bank (maybe more), why bother risking your health? Yeah I could see him doing a month long program form time to time, but I dont think he'd be like Hogan, coming back to be a regualr characetr on TV every week. He just doesn't need it.

He may not need to. But I think he really loves the business. Realistically, he doesn't "need" to do it now. But he does make appearances and it wouldn't surprise me if he came back down the road. Granted being in a wrestling ring is always dangerous, but his style is far less dangerous than some.

I don't put it past The Rock to come back full-time down the road, at least for a little while. (And be a weekly name, I mean.) He's come back early before due to the company needing him (ie, Steve Austin bailing). He really does love the people. You could see him smiling when he most recently came back, he couldn't keep a straight face half the time. He clearly misses the ring. But CyNick makes the obvious (and correct) point about money... So it's really hard to say. He doesn't have to come back at all really. I think we're just gonna have to wait and see. At this point I'm not expecting it any time soon in either event. But there's always hope.

Ever notice The Rock's returns are usually a surprise, as well? I think he likes that element of surprise. So you never know when The Rock is going to come strolling out, even when he isn't currently working. It'll always be a treat. If I were him, honestly... I'd do what I was doing with the films, and spend time with my family. He has a daughter. And then do it every once and a while. And maybe somewhere down the road, go at it for a year, or a few months. Who knows.
