External Hard Drive Troubles
Bought a new external hard drive.
Connect the thing, light comes on, disk fires up but the drive is not recognised on the PC/laptop. Tried this on my PC and my sister's laptop, same effect. Managed to hook it up once, moved a load of stuff across to it and now can't get the thing to be recognised again. No driver/software disk provided. It's this piece of shit btw http://www.maplin.co.uk/750gb-seagat...e-drive-476955 |

Does it show up at all in the Device Manager under "Disk Drives", even after going to Action --> Scan for Hardware Changes?

Might not actually be the drive and may be your USB ports.
Had one hell of a time with my onboard USB ports with external storage only, everything else was just fine. 4 different drives lost all their data. Got a new USB card once those ports fully died and all the drives have been fine ever since. |
