the PERFECT thread
I woke up with Mr. Perfect's theme in my head so I decided to make a appreciation thread.


Statistics
Real Name: Curt Hennig

Died: February 10, 2003

Biography
With an impressive amateur wrestling background and being a second-generation wrestler, Curt Hennig practically lived up to his nickname throughout his life and career.

Hennig's early fame included being the AWA World champion during the 1980's. In 1988, Hennig arrived in the World Wrestling Fedeartion as Mr. Perfect. Managed by Bobby Hennan, Hennig captured the WWF IC Title and competed against some of WWF's top names, including Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior.

In 1991, Hennig's injured back put him on the shelf, and he ended up being the "Executive Consultant" for Ric Flair. When Hennig returned to action, he defeated Flair in a loser leaves WWF match. In late 1993, Hennig injured his back again was once again put on the shelf. Hennig did some commentary work for the WWF until late 1996, when a contract dispute caused him to leave the company.

In June 1997, Hennig made his debut in World Championship Wrestling. Within a few months, he joined the New World Order and became WCW United States champion. In 1999, Hennig formed his own stable, The West Texas Rednecks, and proclaimed that rap music was crap.

In January 2002, Hennig returned to the WWF as Mr. Perfect, but was released in May after getting into a brawl with Brock Lesnar on a plane. Hennig worked for NWA TNA in late 2002 and early 2003. Sadly, Hennig passed away on February 10th, 2003. Friends, fans, and fellow wrestlers will forever remember Hennig as a tremendous performer and a person who could always make you laugh.

Give the PerfectPlex to another wrestler some of them are desperate for a new finisher.

Curt Hennig in my opinion had the best heel gimmick ever, Cocky,brash, and arrogant but he could back it up. A few have tried to use these same attributes but IMO have never come close to Curt Hennig's greatness. ie: Michaels and Jericho etc.

A true legend who to this day is sorely missed.

Indeed Mr. Perfect was a true legend. Def. one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. And just typing this,reminds me when Jericho,another favorite of mine, paid tribute the week of Curt's passing by doing the Mr. Perfect towel/gum taunt which was awesome. RIP Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig.

Perfect was great. I just wished the WWE would of used him a little more before his death. I was going crazy when he was one of the few people left in the rumble. RIP PERFECT

I'm on a basketball team and my friend Rob everytime he goes on the court for he's chewing gum and has a towel on his shoulder. Just before the game starts he tosses and cathes the towel and then does the gum slap, it's his tradition.

The day he found out Perfect died he brought a boom box out and came out to the Perfect theme... He the proceeded to score 42 out of our team 69 points, the kid was on fire. He dedicated the game to Curt Hennig, it was kinda awesome that he did that.

Mr. Perfect is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time.

RIP Hennig. I remember marking huge when Perfect was in the last 4 of the 2002 Rumble. I think I would've had a heart attack if he won it. Definately the trademarker of the "brash and cocky" gimmick.

Curt "Perfect" Henning. A man who revolutionized the industry. I remember back in WCW where Bischoff or someone said if Henning would get pinned, he was fired. So every loss he took was a submission loss. That was just...perfect for him. Loved Henning as a wrestler and as a character you couldn't beat the Perfect gimmick. He's sorely missed.

This guy was a great heel, I always tried to do the gum thing when I was a young lad (and still do)

I used to love his promos, I remember a few of them when he was playing sports. He would keep hitting home runs after every single pitch, he would sink numerous 3-pointers from center court, and he would throw a football across the field and end up catching it. This guy was awesome, I am sure he is in a better place right now.

One of my all time favorite PERFECT moments was when he was in a match with the Big Show, and "Perfectplexed" him for a one-count. Great performer, and sure as hell probably a better guy than Brock Lesnar. RIP Curt

Mr. Perfect was the man. His Perfect-Plex was one of the best Fishermans suplexs...even a fisherman with a rod could not execute a better one.

For such a great overall wrestler, its just a shame that he wasn't given what he deserved, i.e. world title. Also, how poorly they treated his return in 2002.

I remember hearing once that he was meant to win the 92 Rumble(i think) untill Hogan changed their minds.

BTW, i love that pic of him sitting on the chair. Its radd, Joey.
